Bab 15: Wargod wrath yet again

"Magic Shield, High Wave!"

A towering wall appeared out of nowhere surrounding both Mays and Miur. [Magic Shield] was a basic skill for magic caster class. As a hidden class Magic Swordsman, Mays had all set of basic skills for magic caster and swordsman at his disposal.

"Oh, as expected. He really is a magic caster."

Nej commented as he saw the water shield surrounding Mays. Only magic caster class could use magic shield. He never knew that Mays was actually the legendary Magic Swordsman who was the combination of both magic caster and swordsman.

"Damn this shield is tough!"

"Our weapon can't pierce through!"

The attacking member of White Raven shouted. They were shocked at how tough the shield was. Normally that shield would crumble easily if it was casted by low level magic caster. These kind of magic shield fed on magical power after all. The stronger the magic caster, the stronger the durability of the shield.

"Uh, useless. Fall back, let me do it!"

The black robed elder gave the order. All the other member of White Raven followed his order as their squad captain was currently busy fighting Nej alone.

"Lightning bolt!"

With a swing of his skeleton head staff, thunder shot out from the eye socket of the skull on his staff. It shoots directly toward the water shield surrounding Mays.

"Urhhh!"

Miur who was also inside the water shield screamed as she was zapped by the lightning alongside Mays.

"Heheh… You might be good, but I'm better. Its common sense that lightning wins over water!"

The elder laughed after his attack was proven effective. The water shield immediately dispersed as if Mays had finally depleted his magic energy.

As the magical force holding the water shield were cut off, the surging water wall flowed away from Mays along the alley. In the middle of it, Mays appeared unharmed by that lightning attack while Miur was hurt quite a bit.

The atmosphere turned dark when a sudden surge of killing intent enshrouded the area. Mays was beyond pissed. He glared at the black robed elder with a bloody red eyes. Previously, he decided to endure just for the safety of Miur. He didn't plan to drag these people in his mess. Now that Miur herself was hurt because of him holding back, he snapped.

"You're better? That puny lightning is something you actually brag about?!!"

Mays straighten his right arm toward the sky as he started counting the total number of their attacker. The black robed elder and Lord Arbah already sweating nonstop as they felt the heavy pressure from Mays's killing intent. That very moment, they knew they had messed with someone they shouldn't.

"Thunder god's Anger!"

The dark night turned darker as black cloud gathered around the area where Mays stood. Countless lightning strikes showered the land within a hundred meter radius with Mays at the center of it. Those unlucky member of Raven Claw turned into cinder once they were strike by those lightning.

"Retreat! Retreat! Everyone retreat!!"

The panicked elder in white robe immediately order a retreat. More than half of them already died within seconds.

"Planning to leave? You can try!!"

"Lightning Serpent!"

With a swing of his hand, Mays directed the lightning strikes according to his wills. As if he was the real god of thunder, he assigned where the thunder would strike, mostly toward the back of those running Raven Claw's member. Like a living being, those lightning serpent hunted their target like a homing missile. Every swing of his hand meant another death for the Raven Claw.

"Meh, I tried to advice you guys but you didn't listen. Have you guys ever heard of the saying 'never poke a hornet nest'?"

Nej who was currently fighting the captain of Raven Claw sighed. He really meant it earlier when he said that he was stopping the fight for their own good. It was too late now though. There were less than ten survivor from the White Raven at the moment.

"Should we continue fighting? You won't be able to defeat me alone anyways."

Before Nej could look at the Blood Captain Mohen's face, he already turned back and ran toward the black robed elder. They had no intention on staying any longer. But for them to leave safely, it was also a challenge by itself. With how enraged Mays currently was, nobody would be able to stop him if he wanted everyone from the White Raven dead.

Due to some stroke of luck, Lord Arbah was actually one of the ten who survived the barrage of lightning attack thus far. His face was currently devoid of color, deathly pale due to fear.

"What… what the hell is him?"

"No idea. He had at least the strength of a demigod that's for sure!"

Not even one minute passed yet after Mays started retaliating. These survivors just realized that their escape path had already been blocked. Unbeknown to them, the first skill which Mays casted actually was not an attack directed at them. It was a thunder cage with hordes of lightning strike rained down toward them within the specific time interval. As for the border of the cage, anyone who approached it were stroke down instantly by multiple lightning strike.

There were only five survivor left including the squad leader himself. Every single one of them were drenched in sweat, totally unable to think of a way out from their current predicament. Every single step Mays walked toward them made them shiver in fear. As if the Death God himself was approaching, their face paled as they awaited their impending doom.

"Lord Mays, please rethink this. We lowly peasant made a wrong decision as we come and disturb your peaceful day. We promised that we would pay you whatever that is you demanded as long as you let us go!"

The black robed elder knew that there was no way out of this except from Mays letting them go himself. The probability for that to happen was close to zero though. But still, he thought that trying was better than doing nothing. He was even on his knee, pleading for his life.

"Lightning Serpent!"

"Plop!"

"Whooooooooaaa!!"

The kneeling elder turned into a half cooked corpse in a split second. The other survivors readied their stance as they knew this guy in front of them would not let them go. Blood Captain Mohen, Lord Arbah and the two remaining member of the Raven Claw were totally at the mercy of Mays right now.

"I hate beggars the most."

Mays muttered disdainfully.

"I'll give you guy's one last chance. Decide among yourself within two minutes, who would be the one left here to be killed. Only then will I release the rest of you people."

In this kind of world where the strong trampled upon the weak, whatever Mays did would be justified as long as he had the power to back it up. Mays never was the kind hearted type to begin with. He always do whatever he wanted. At the very least, he never did bad things unless there were reasons behind it.

The four survivors entered a heated discussion as they couldn't decide who to be killed and who would be spared. Human always revealed their true nature once they were cornered. Almost all of them tried their best to justify themselves as the one qualified to live. Only Mohen kept his mouth shuts all the time. Two minutes passed by in an instant as Mays walked toward them with a grin on his face.

"Have you guys decided?"

Mays asked in his usual indifferent tone.

"Please lord give us more time."

"We almost come to a conclusion. Just wait for a little while longer my lord!"

It was obvious that their discussion was far from the conclusion. They all treasured their life over others. None of them would sacrifice their own life. Or so Mays thought.

"I'll stay. Promise me that you will let them all go."

Mohen who was silent all these time suddenly spoken. He stared directly at Mays's eyes as he said that. He was totally determined to do so. If not because of circumstances, he wouldn't be a part of this kind of shady organization. He thought that at the very least, he could choose where and how he would die.

"Okay then. Congratulations!"

Mays snapped his finger and several thunderbolt immediately rushed downward from the dark cloudy sky. Mohen closed both his eyes as if he had already given up hope to live. But the long awaited lightning strike never came down. He opened his eyes a few seconds later and he noticed that Mays was nowhere within his sight. Even both Miur and Nej were not there anymore.

"He left huh? Whatever."

He turned back as he planned on leaving the area but he was shocked when he saw the corpse of Lord Arbah and his two remaining squad member half charred. Only now he get the meaning of congratulation said by Mays before he left.

Someone who discarded their companion for their own sake didn't deserve to stay alive. With heavy steps, Mohen left the scene with a bitter feeling, without any fixed destination in mind.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Laaaaaaaaaaaaaadiesss and gentlemaaaaaaaaaan!"

"The first match for today semi-finals would be between one of the underdog, Mays the Magus against Slick the Beastman!"

"Let the match begin!!"

Both Mays and Slick were inside the ring, sizing off each other. Slick didn't even try to contain his killing intent, spreading it out as if he was trying to intimidate Mays. As for Mays, he didn't show any interest in Slick. One casual glance and he knew already that this Slick was a silver ranked fighter.

Even a normal member of Raven Claw was at his level. Mays could singlehandedly defeat a whole squad of them. What could one person like Slick do? At the moment, Mays had no more intention on wasting time here in this kingdom. If not because he promised Miur to win the tournament last night, he would already set off to Gulam Kingdom.

"Hehehe you looks strong. Keep up with me please."

Slick licked his lips as he stared at Mays. He totally loved the thrill of battle. His battle instinct was that of a beast so he couldn't really sense anything from the current Mays who hide his aura. The current Mays appeared mysterious in Slick's eyes.

Mays gestured his finger asking Slick to make the first move.

Slick leapt forward with his left hand ready to slash through Mays. Nobody noticed when his human hand changed into those of beast's claw. It was quite grotesque but the audience didn't bother about it. It was normal for fighters to have unique fighting style or technique for themselves.

It happened in a split second. Just before Slick's beast claw reached Mays, he was sent flying several meters away until he was stopped by the coliseum's thick wall. None of the audience saw what kind of attack Mays had used whether it was a kick nor a punch because it happened way too fast.

"Whhhaaaaaaaat just happened? The match had just started and contestant Slick was already sent flying out of the ring."

"The winner of this round is Mays!"

A huge applaud followed right away after Mays was announced as the winner.

He was way too strong for normal people to keep up with. Even the monstrous Slick was nothing in his eyes.

"As expected of master. Even a casual punch have that impressive power."

Syaitona commented. She was currently in the audience area together with the other spirits and also Miur and the rest. Mira was not there since she was also the contestant for the semi-finals.

"That first fight really was unexpected. Nobody would have thought that their levels were worlds apart. Let's move on to our next match between our previous…"

"I forfeit!"

"What?"

"I Najibby, the previous champion of the tournament forfeits!"

The announcer thought he misheard things hence he asked for confirmation. Nej even shouted his name loudly the second time so there would be no way for the announcer to be wrong.

"For real?"

"The previous champion forfeit?"

"Might he be afraid of this new underdog Mays?"

"Probably. Who knows?"

The crowd immediately turned chaotic as they started their own speculation. Nobody knew the real reason as Nej himself never bothered explaining. As for Mays and all his spirits, they knew the reason for sure without the need of Nej to tell them.

Any HeavensTale player would knew for sure. A level sixty three player could never beat someone at level one hundred. That was an indisputable fact. Nej would end up being embarrassed in front of the crowd if he braved himself to face Mira in a match.

"Since one of the contestant for the match forfeited, Mira would..."

"Mira also forfeit! Mira could never win against master hehehe."

"WHAAAAAATTT?"

The announcer didn't even finished with his announcement when he was once again interrupted. This time, it was Mira. Mira just did the same thing as Nej, forfeiting the match.

"What the hell?"

"Who is that Mays really?"

"They're all afraid of him or what?"

Once again the crowd turned hectic. This was the first time something like this ever happened during Mercia's Martial Art Tournament. Never once did a contestant who entered the final match forfeited before the fight.

The announcer himself was at a loss as he didn't know if he should announce it as a win by default or not. This was a rare case after all. As he was troubled by the current situation, he observed his surroundings.

He then noticed a commotion which started from outside of the coliseum. As an announcer, he stood on a high tower, announcing from quite a distance away from the ring. He was also the first person who saw a group of knights entered the coliseum leisurely.

"Announcing the arrival of your majesty King Mohawk Merkessa. "

The herald shouted as loud as he could at the entrance of the coliseum. Everyone present at the coliseum bowed toward the king almost immediately. Even the announcer himself bowed down with respect. This person was none other than the king of the kingdom they resides after all.

Mays and all his spirits didn't bow down though. They looked at the king for a bit before they turned away their gaze as if the king was not someone worth they attention.

"Hahaha truly an unruly bunch. No wonder you dared to even trashed this king's proud daughter."

King Mohawk laughed it off as if it was something normal. There really was no sign of disdain shown on his face. Beside the king was Princess Mintrina who lost against Mays during the fights in Block B. She stared at Mays without saying anything.

"Hey you over there, announce me as the winner already. I'm not planning to stay here any longer. As for the winning prize, just let the contestant named Miur claim it. She is my friend."

"Ah…. Okay."

Mays was about to move away from the ring when the king and all the knights blocked his path. The king himself stood right in front of Mays while his knights all lined up like an army of statues behind him. The princess was also present, standing by the king's side.

"What do you want?"

Without any honorific nor respect, Mays directly talked to the king. He was really blunt.

"Ugh you are really harsh. But it's okay this king permitted it."

Despite being disrespected by Mays, the king still kept his cool head and asked politely. Mays was actually not that good at dealing with this kind of people. If this king just snapped and started attacking him then it would be simple. Mays just couldn't lay his hand on a kind looking elderly as they reminded him of his late grandfather.

"Make her go away."

Mays replied as he pointed his finger toward the third princess. If only this princess had no relation at all with the king, Mays wouldn't be this rude out of nowhere. It was just human nature. One wouldn't act kindly toward those they was dissatisfied with.

Mays was calculative, yes. But he did things according to his heart most of the time. That was the kind of person he was. He hated this princess because of the dispute they have back in the tournament.

"Aahh… No wonder. This king understands. This foolish princess injured your friends badly. No wonder you held contempt toward us. It's normal. It's normal."

"Mintrina, you are not welcomed here, begone!"

The king kept his kind face while answering to Mays but next second his face turned serious as he asked her daughter to leave the scene. His tone changed from a kind old man to that of a strict ruler in an instant.

"Yes royal father."

Princess Mintrina immediately left the coliseum as she was clearly not welcomed there. She never knew who Mays was but from how her father acted before him, she knew that Mays was no simple character for sure.
