"Nurse! The patient has woken up!" {Doctor}
A sound of intense clatter ran throughout the ward as Nurses and Doctors alike sprang into action at the thought of saving their newest patient. Ryan was incredibly confused in this situation.
"What's going on? Where am I?" {Ryan}
He remembered...
Nothing. Nothing at all. Why was he here? Who was here with him? Where is this place? The last thing he remembered was driving down the highway with his parents, after stepping from his recluse after so long. He remembered the emotion, the happiness that he had felt after being alone for what felt like his whole life, he had forgotten what it was like to be normal, and live normally.
Only after a while did it occur to him that a man bearing a white doctors lab coat stood over him, trying to gain his attention.
"Young man! Young man!" {???}
"Yes? Sorry, what were you saying?" {Ryan}
"Phew, we thought something had happened to you, but it seems that you're alright. Oh sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Dr. Jameel" {Dr. Jameel}
Dr. Jameel was a middle aged man donning short, black hair, with weathered skin and calloused hands, rather unfitting of a doctor, perhaps he came from a poor family, thought Ryan, before he was a doctor. Although Ryan couldn't exactly pinpoint where he was from, given the tone of his skin and his name, he assumed it was somewhere like India or Bangladesh.
"Oh, thank you. But.... where am I? What is this place?" {Ryan}
Ryan contemplated as far back as he could possibly muster, before he left his room, before the accident that cost him his social identity, but no. Nothing came to mind.
"It's just as I thought young man, you're suffering from a minor case of amnesia, your brain seems to be destroying the information within your mind to protect you from its awful contents!" {Dr. Jameel}
This only sufficed to bolster Ryan's confusion even further.
"Accident, what accident?" {Ryan}
"Sigh, young man.... I want you to listen to me carefully okay. You need to promise to listen to my every word, are we clear?" {Dr. Jameel}
As Ryan's curiosity into the situation replaced his chagrin, he could only nod his head in silence, trembling in both anxiety and fear towards the secrets of his condition.
"Good. What I'm about to tell you is common news at this point, however, you cannot help not hearing it, you've been in a comatose state for three days!" {Dr. Jameel}
Ryan was utterly bewildered, three days in a comatose state? Immediately, it came flowing back to him.
'That Dream! The soldiers, the siege and, and Father!'
Thought Ryan within the short pause that Dr. Jameel had allowed him. Presumably to get his thoughts back on track.
"Please continue doctor, I need to know more" {Ryan}
"Of course, as I was saying young man, you have been in a comatose state for three whole days, pretty much the entire world knows of this now, all but you. When you were travelling down the highway, the van of a fleeing criminal crashed into your vehicle, you appear to have lost consciousness upon the collision instantaneously" {Dr. Jameel}
Ryan's heart palpitated arrhythmically as a sense of terror flooded over his face, but still insisted that the doctor should continue, as to not leave him in the dark, regardless of how scared of the answer he was.
"Amongst the collision, young man, I'm sorry to say but... You were the only survivor.... I'm incredibly sorry for your loss" {Dr. Jameel}
Dr. Jameel said meekly, bowing his head in the presence of Ryan. Not out of fear or worship, but out of empathy. He knew all to well the feelings that came with losing someone, and to this young man in front of him, to have lost the only remaining people in his life, empathy was the only thing that he could show.

Ryan, within his mind, was distraught. His selfishness had once again caused someone he loved to be hurt, yet this time, there was no apologising. There was no setting things straight. There was no getting it right next time. They were gone. Forever. He couldn't apologise, he couldn't be a better son, there was no second chance.
He remembered the face of his mother, just a short while ago, wrapping her arms around him, telling him that it was alright, that they didn't blame him for the self centered actions that he had taken, almost destroying the reputation they had built to the ground. Warms tears spilled from his eyes, yet the only warmth that he could feel, was now gone in its entirety.
He recalled the face of his father, the warm feelings that his brash, blunt and loving tone gave him. Feelings that he had long since forgotten, yet would never do so again in the future, even if it cost him his life.
He placed his face into his hands as the tears pooled at his sheets, screams and shouts of agony that burst forth from the soul erupted out of him all at once. The screams of pain echoing in his mind, reminding him, never to forget what he has done.

Although Ryan hadn't noticed, Dr. Jameel had long since left his room, perhaps out of guilt, perhaps out of empathy. As he strolled down the hallway with a semi-lax expression about him, he quietly muttered.
"Ah well, next time it is I suppose." {Dr. Jameel}
Arriving at the end of the corridor, he placed his hand onto the doorknob, only to swiftly sigh before pulling it open.
