Bab 7: Five Months Ago: Ken Jung

Han walked into his nearly empty room. Other than his bed, two huge shelves with lots of business and computer science books, and a desktop on top of a single desk in the corner of the room, his room was cold and empty. There were no picture frames or no anything that would make the room feel warm and comfy. It just looked sad and lonely. The black window curtains covering light from shining in didn't help either.

Han flopped onto his bed and quickly read through the first half of the documents.

The target was Ken Jung. He was the biggest, infamous gang leader of Country XI. He controlled all of the underground business, and he had people all over the country working under him. His infamous symbol was a phoenix. When outsiders saw his symbol, they ran away in terror. His gang was known to be the strongest, brutalist, and dangerous of all, and none of the other lower gangs would dare challenge him. The thought of going against him never even crossed their mind.

Ken had tattoos all over his body. The one that stood out the most was his purple phoenix tattooed onto his left arm. It drew Han's attention, and he stared at the picture of it for a while before he continued reading on.

His gang members were branded with a blue phoenix tattooed onto their right shoulder. Only those who were blood-related to Ken had a purple phoenix tattooed onto their left shoulder like him. The phoenix was tattooed in such an intricate way and with a rare special ink that it couldn't be duplicated by anyone. Only Ken had access to the rare ink and the tattooist was his very good friend, who was devotedly and faithfully on Ken's side.

The differences in the color ink tattoos was of course, to distinguish those who were most important to Ken. It was also a symbol to others that those with purple phoenixes must not be touched or harmed unless they wanted to face the wrath of him and all his people throughout Country XI. Those who harmed them in any way were dead men. The only person who had the purple phoenix tattooed onto their left shoulder other than Ken was his daughter. Ever since his wife had died giving birth to his only daughter, he swore to protect her at all costs. She was his precious jewel, who he had trained ever since she was young to protect herself and to kill if necessary.

Ken's main turf or base was located in the south side of Country XI, which was a couple blocks away from XI High. This was convenient for him and his daughter because her school was just right there, and he could easily protect her if something happened. His turf was well guarded by his most trusted and loyal gang members. There were about 40 of them and they all lived with Ken. Everyone knew each other and were all close. They had a bond so strong that nothing could break it, and Ken was in the center of it.

Those who dared betray Ken did not live. Their phoenix tattoo would be burnt off, and they would be endlessly tortured. They would wish for a quick death that wouldn't be granted no matter how much they cried and pleaded. In his entire reign as a gang leader, only one betrayed him. That person was long gone, and no one ever spoke of him again. It was taboo to either speak or think of him.

Why the fuck did that man give him this mission?! Han angrily thought. He knew very well why, but he still couldn't help himself from asking why. He knew he was expendable and just a pawn that his so-called father wanted to use and throw away once he was no longer needed.

The reason why Han's father wanted him to go under cover was because there was something Ken had that his father, CEO Gin, wanted, but it was too dangerous for him or his people to retrieve it. According to his father, it was some kind of important document. He had no clue what the document was about because his father did not explain any further. Ken had hidden it somewhere deep within his turf or home that none of CEO Gin's top men could find it. Plus, his place was too well guarded for his father to really do anything. Although, CEO Gin was the wealthiest and most powerful CEO, he still couldn't beat Ken's power and connections as a gang leader. This was where Han came in. His mission was to seduce Ken's only daughter to somehow gain entry to Ken's turf, and then he would have to search for the document. This seemed like a ludicrous idea, but since his calculative, cold father had threatened him, he had to do it. He was currently too weak to go against him, and he wouldn't risk his mother's life.

Han was about to read the next file containing the full details of Ken's only daughter, but suddenly fell asleep from exhaustion. He didn't even get the chance to read her name.

Who would've thought that that the very next day, she would be the first person he meets, and would soon be the second most important person in his life.
