Bab 50: Jia Ming
The ring woke the beautiful young lady up, making her open her eyes suddenly. However, sunlight shined on her eyes, making her close them again.
"What...?"
The young lady was confused. There were no windows in her house, why was there sunlight shining on her eyes?
She looked up on her roof, and saw a hole which the sunlight went through.
"A hole?"
The young lady then picked up the thing that made her wake up in the first place.
It was a stone ring, and one that looks very much broken.
"A ring? Just what is happening..."
Inside the ring, Li Bai felt that it was now safe to exit.
Zing!
With a thought, his projection suddenly appeared on top of the young lady. As she was on her bed, the projection was elevated to step on it.
The young lady was shocked by the sudden appearance of the projection on her bed, and quickly retreated to the very end of it.
"Wh- what is that?"
After a while, Li Bai materialized. His clothes were all dusty from the punch of Wu Tai earlier. He swept the dust off as he looked around.
"Where am I?"
He got off the bed and looked behind him. A young girl, about the age of his sister, was trembling in fear as she examined the man before her.
"Wh- who are you?"
"I am Li Bai. Pardon me for my intrusion," while saying this, Li Bai bowed and clasped his fists. "and how should I address you?"
The young girl snapped out of her daze. She only now found out... she was naked!
"Ah, wait, get out, get out!" The young girl uttered hurriedly as her face was flushed from embarrassment.
She hastily pushed the child who named himself Li Bai out of her house. When Li Bai was finally outside, she closed the door as she uttered these words: "And, um... wait for me there!"

Li Bai was outside the house, waiting patiently. After about thirty minutes, the door finally opened and the young girl was more beautiful than before.
Her hair was now straight compared to her fuzzy hair before. Her face was now glistening after a bit of cleaning with some water. Most of all, her clothes emphasized her voluptuous body, her curves and her white skin.
Even Li Bai, who has seen countless beauties, including his own sister, was slightly moved by the sight before him, his eyes widening.
However, being the gentleman that he is, he quickly halted his ogling of the young girl before him, instead looking around her small house.
The ambience was nice... but other than that, that was it. Her house had extremely ancient furniture made of old wood, and the floor was extremely creaky as well.
The young girl led Li Bai inside of the small house, taking out two small wooden stools and placing them on the opposite sides of a table.
"So... let's restart the conversation. You are?" The young girl asked Li Bai with a fierce look in her eyes. Her arms supported her head as she leaned on them.
"As I said, I am Li Bai, and you are?" Li Bai answered the young girl with a smooth and unwavering voice, which gave the young girl quite the shock.
She purposely made her eyes like that to intimidate the child before her, but who knew that he would be completely apathetic towards it?
However, this didn't show on the young girl's face as she responded back.
"I am... Jia Ming[1]."
Jia Ming paused for a bit before telling him.
"Nice to meet you, Sister Ming." As they had just met, it would be appropriate to say her name with formalities.
"So, where are we?" After talking formally, Li Bai's expression suddenly turned serious.
The gap from his polite and amiable face to his serious face startled Jia Ming quite a bit, suspecting his age.
From what her grandfather had told her when she was young, she remembered that there were cultivators who could make their faces younger and deceive people.
However, her grandfather added that these people appeared once in a blue moon, telling her not to worry about them.
Seeing the child before her, Jia Ming began to suspect his identity... Is this person in front of me not really a child, or am I just thinking too much into it?
All of these thoughts, like before, didn't show on her face, as she calmly answered the child's question.
"We're in the Light Forest."
Hearing Jia Ming's response, Li Bai knitted his eyebrows as he dug up information from his memories that was related to this forest.
Aha! This is the forest... where I got these Heavenly Cotton... probably.
In a fit of anger, Wu Tai had actually sent Li Bai to the destination he was supposed to go to!
Jia Ming watched Li Bai's expressions closely as she was interested.
Li Bai's expression finally relaxed as he lazily leaned his back on the chair he was sitting on. To confirm his suspicions, with a flick of his hand, he retrieved another Heavenly Cotton from his ring.
He pointed it towards Jia Ming and asked, "Do you recognize this plant?"
Jia Ming was, at first, startled that Li Bai was asking her a question, but when she looked at the plant and studied it closely, she sneered.
"What are you even asking? It's obviously a cotton plant." Jia Ming was almost thrown off by Li Bai's elementary question.
"Hmm... wrong. Study it more closely." Saying these words, Li Bai opened his clenched fist as the cotton fell on the table.
Jia Ming was shocked. Her, wrong about a plant? This couldn't be real!
In this small village in the middle of the forest, she was hailed as the most knowledgeable.
She thought of herself as knowledgeable as well, because of the memory fragments of her childhood. Sometimes, she would remember either one of her parents, or even her grandfather imparting their knowledge to her.
As much as Jia Ming was angered, she was also curious. If this child claims that this normal-looking cotton isn't actually a cotton plant, then what could it be?
She picked up the cotton with a raised eyebrow, meticulously spinning it around and examining every little part of it, until she dropped it wide-eyed.
"Th- this is... the legendary Heavenly Cotton!" She exclaimed as her breathing hastened.
She had only ever heard about this plant from her grandfather and her mother, reading it from the books of their library!
Wait, library?
Suddenly, the remembrance of this specific cotton made Jia Ming fall into a trance.
She sat on her chair with her eyes wide-open as memories filled her mind.
.....
"Little Shan, you shouldn't go too close to the water." A mother kindly reminded her daughter.
The mother held her daughter's small hand as she was pulled away farther and farther.
"But mama, dad's necklace fell into the river..." The daughter said as she tried to resist her mother's pull, planting both of her feet into the ground.
She had seen her dad's necklace floating, so maybe her dad would be happy if she, his daughter, had found it.
The mother's kind expression turned into that of melancholy as she heard her daughter utter phrases about her husband.
"Little Shan, you shouldn't think about your dad anymore, okay?" The mother, suppressing her sadness, said to her daughter.
With an innocent expression, the daughter tilted her head as she out one of her fingers on her mouth while asking, "Why mama? Has dad been bad?"
The mother just shook her head in response as she tried to pull her daughter farther from the river.
"No, dear, dad has not been bad."
.....
Li Bai muttered under his breath. "It's only a matter of time until she remembers everything... 3... 2... 1..."
Right after his counting, Jia Ming recovered from her daze.
[1] Google told me that "fake" is Jia and "name" is Ming.
