Marcus wasn't sure how the flying artifacts were speaking, but he could understand what was said. They want them to surrender because they are on their land. It was understandable.
"Xiao Mei, what do we do? They want us to surrender."
"Let's try talking with them first." While Marcus was a bit nervous, it was his first time seeing an artifact like this, Xiao Mei Looked calmer that a moment ago.
"We mean no harm, we just want to talk!" She shouted at the top of her lungs. Marcus didn't expect her to yell and jumped from fright.
The artifact stayed silent, with his eyes Marcus saw the people in it moving.
Ten seconds later they heard a response. "Put your hands behind your head and kneel on the ground, if you comply we will not hurt you."
"Let's do what they say." Said, Xiao Mei, while kneeling on the ground.
And while Marcus kneeled down, he asked. "Are you sure? It may be hard, but we could take it down."
"Marcus. Tell me. Do you want to stay stuck on an island?" Xiao Mei asked with a sharp tone.
This is bad. He needs to calm her down. "No, you are right. Maybe you should do the talking." That was good. His tone was perfect, it should work.
"I will." Said Xiao Mei, apparently pleased with the response.
Seeing the two kneel down, Lieutenant Garey ordered the pilot to land. With caution, they left the ship, their rifles scanning the area as to not let them be caught by surprise. Approaching the two the team surround them. Two soldiers pointing their weapons at the targets the rest watching the surroundings.
"Stand up, and give me your hands." Lieutenant Garey walked in front of the two, and as they extended their hands, he handcuffed them. Looking at the men he had his eyes closed, still remembering the black void he shivered. He only saw that kind of void in space. Maybe he saw it wrong?
"Can we talk now?" Xiao Mei spoke.
"Is there anyone else on the island?" Lieutenant Garey ignored her question and started to question her.
"We searched the whole island, and there is only Marcus and me."
"Searched them, then we move out. Don't resist or we will use force." Lieutenant Garey finally relaxed, looking at the screen on his arm he pressed it a few times and contacted W.S. Artemis. "This is Pharaoh One. Two targets secured, we are packing now. Over."
"Copy. The road is clear, make your way back with the targets. Over."
"Copy. Pharaoh One Out"
With the short exchange Lieutenant made his report, looking at the targets, he saw them looking at him. At his hand to be exact. The woman was blinking rapidly, her mouth open.
"What is that? Is it some sort of artifact?" Her words were faster than bullets.
Everyone looked at her. From her expression, you could tell that she genuinely didn't know what a phone is. Lieutenant Garey was surprised as well, but he quickly gathered himself."Move out."
On the ship both of them stayed quiet, looking nervous, especially Marcus. Sweating all over, his hands were trembling, he was terrified.
"Are you fine Marcus?" Xiao Mei asked with concern.
"It's just… that we are high. Really high. And we are still going up!" His voice was panicked. Xiao Mei wasn't able to tell what is outside. There were no windows. The ship started to accelerate, shaking as they traveled up the atmosphere.
And then it stopped. Their bodies became light as if floating in the air. And as Xiao Mei was enjoying this feeling, Marcus's face turned ashen. "Xiao Mei… don't use your energy here. There is no air outside."
In response, Xiao Mei nodded seriously.
"Brook, help them put on the magnetic boots."
"Yes, sir."
Brook stood up and took two pairs from the compartment above him. Taking a knee in front of Marcus he said: "Easy now, we don't want to put you down."
Not resisting he let Brook put the boots on his feet. "Do you know how to use them?" asked Brook.
"You walk?" answered Marcus and in response, he was meet with laughter from Brook and chuckles from the soldiers around him.
"You have to tap the heels twice, and they activate, they will keep you stuck the ground."
"No talking." Interrupted Lieutenant Garey. "Finish quickly and go back to your seat, we are docking soon."
"This is Pharaoh One, requesting permission for docking. Over."
"Copy. Permission granted. Head for dock 42. Over."
"Acknowledged. Pharaoh One Out"
With the pilot having a short exchange, they soon docked to W.S. Artemis. As the hatch opened, they were greeted with a crowd of soldiers. And at the very front was Admiral Kong.
"Admiral Kong." Lieutenant Garey saluted.
"At ease. Good job, we will take it from here. Escort the prisoners to a holding cell. Lieutenant Garey, come with me, I want to hear your report."
"Yes, sir."
Looking at the situation that they are in, Xiao Mei wasn't sure she made the right decision. "Marcus, if they don't let us go in a day, we are going to break out. Just remember not to go too far when you do."
"Me? You should be careful, the last time you were training you almost burned the whole island."
"You want to get beaten up again?! I told you to forget about that!" Hearing Xiao Mei shouting, he realized he again spoke without thinking. This is bad. He needs to do something!
As Marcus and Xiao Mei had their exchange. Everyone around them listened. Xiao Mei didn't even bother to whisper what she said about breaking out, she said it out loud! Everyone froze in place, they didn't expect to hear something so… abnormal.
50 chapters out!
Hope you guys are enjoying the novel so far. I'm writing Lin Zhen, Liu Yang, and Long Jiao POV's but don't want to break the flow of the story now. I will be releasing one or two chapters of different POV's every few chapters, but I will focus on Marcus's story mostly.
Have some time? Write a review! I would like to hear what you think about the novel!
