Bab 1: CHAPTER 1 : Welcome to Hell
Zein's Point of View
I can't stop scratching my leg. I was wearing short shorts that were always cut by the grass around me. My rubber shoes are also muddy.
"Are you sure this is the way? Just tell me if we're lost? So I won't be surprised." I said annoyed.
"Can you, Zein? Shut up? You've been whining for a while now. You're not helping anyone."
I just made it difficult for Mia who was busy pointing the direction. He is the one holding the map that he picked up from somewhere.
"Too dangerous. Just be careful there might be snakes around." Dave said.
"Thanks for the scare, Dave." Vanessa said with a stick in her hand.
"Sshh. You'll only get more tired if you move around." Disobedience of Jerome who was ahead of us to walk.
"We're almost there. Just be patient."PagpapahaMatt and I were together.
I almost fainted when mud stuck to my thigh. I hit Vanessa because of the stick she was holding.
He just laughed before standing next to Mia. Didn't even apologize.
We are now going to Hell University in the middle of the forest. Isn't it amazing? Haha. Mia picked up a map and of course, we are friends who love adventure, here we are now, on our way there.
"Ouch!" I fell behind Matt when he suddenly stopped. I just noticed that they all stopped.
My jaw dropped when I saw what they were looking at. An old gate that was too big and rusted. In the middle is Hell University written in what looks like blood. Creepy.
"Is that it?" Jerome asked. My eyes almost rolled. Isn't it obvious, Jerome?
"I think this is it." Mia said.
"What are you doing here?!"
I grabbed Matt's clothes because of the fear of the sudden appearance of a mother with a brain. Gosh!
"Is Hell University here? We want to enroll." Mia said.
A smile appeared on mom's dry lips. Shit! I don't want it anymore.
"Follow me." He walked ahead of us.
I held Vanessa's arm excitedly. Their faces showed excitement while I was scared. Psh.
"I think. It's a bad idea, Van." I whispered to Vanessa.
"I don't think so."
I couldn't believe it when we entered. The students who were talking quietly approached us. Others are crying.
"You should be registered first." Mom said.
I couldn't take my eyes off the students. The others are staring at us intently. Then the others smiled. Shit! Creepy.
"It will be exciting." Jerome whispered winking at the girls.
This place seems so crowded even though it is so wide. Hell University. I covered my mouth when the students suddenly started running.
"What's up?" Vanessa asked.
"Riot. Just ignore it." Mama's apple.
"Riot? Why doesn't anyone seem to stop them? You? Why are you still here?"
We stopped at a door. Mama faced us with a smile that couldn't be removed from her lips.
"All your questions will be answered. Come on."
We entered the room and were greeted by a woman sitting on a swivel chair. He signaled us to sit down, which we did.
The muddy floor got even muddier because of our muddy shoes. Don't they know how to clean? Thank you
"So, Good Morning newbies. I am Madame Violet, HU's Headmistress. Please, fill up the forms." Mom handed us the forms.
While I was filling up, I also glanced at Madame and your mom who was smiling at us. My throat was dry so I just returned my attention to the form.
"Welcome to Hell University!" Madame and the mother laughed together.
"Thanks. Hmmm. How much is the tuition fee?" Mia asked.
"I am a scholar and I brought all my documents." Vanessa said.
Madame and Mama looked at each other and laughed at the same time. Gosh! Why do they look weird?
"It's free. Everything is free."
Vanessa and Mia were happy to be close while Matt, Jerome and Dave just smiled.
"But..."
We all fell silent. What is it now?
"You must know our one and only rule here." He grinnedMadame said.
"You only have one rule?! Whoa!" Dave said in amazement.
Why don't they seem to notice the weirdness of everything that's happening? No tuition fees? Is there such a school? Or if there is, it probably accepts a scholar but this school? Huh? Never mind.
"7pm to 5 am is our Freedom Night also known as Bloody Night"
I frowned.
"What do you mean?" I will ask.
"Everything is free. You will have your freedom. Is it also the time where Killing is legal, lock all the doors, never get outside that range of time because if you do, you will die."
All my blood rose in my body after hearing everything said by Madame who was still smiling.
"Are you serious?! That's craziness but cool!" Matt.
Gosh! Don't they know how to be afraid? I am used to dangerous adventures but I have a bad feeling with this one. This one is creepy.
"You are the newbie. It's better if you're careful. Not all friends treat you as friends. Never let your guard down, or else. You know what I mean?"
Until we got inside the boarding house where the six of us were together I still couldn't believe it. Is killing legal? God! Madness!
"Guys. Give me some air first." I said before going out.
I need air and I also need to calm myself down. There are so many negative thoughts that enter my mind like here that we will die and many others.
My feet took me to the park nearby. I hugged myself when the cold wind blew. There is no one here.
I sat on the rusty swing and pushed the ground to make the swing move.
I looked around. The earlier many students just disappeared suddenly when there was a riot. Are they really that scary? Should I also be?
"You will die."
I turned my gaze to a tree where I saw a man wearing a black mask. It smokes a cigarette.
"Who are you?" I was filled with fear when I saw his dropped knife bathed in blood.
I stood up on the swing. I feel my knee shaking.
"Newbie. What's your name?"
"Z-Zein."
He laughed when he heard what I said. Mejo I felt insulted because of his laugh. There's nothing funny here!
"Sounds angel but at the end. You will also hold a knife to survive."
He threw the knife he was holding at me so I backed away. My throat was dry with nervousness.
"Scared. You shouldn't come in here. Tsk."
"Who are you?!"
He stepped several times closer to me so I stepped back. This guy is creepy! Gosh!
"I am not your friend. No one is your friend."
My face crumpled at what he said. What does that mean? It's confusing.
"It's already 6:30 pm. You still have 30 minutes to leave. Lock all the doors. Their eyes are hot on you.
He turned around and started walking away. I just watched his back until it disappeared.
Who is he and who is he referring to?
I ran back to the dormitory and caught up with the group laughing. They all looked at me when I slammed the door shut.
"We went to the wrong school guys! This is no longer for fun!"
They laughed at what I said so I couldn't help but get irritated. Why don't they want to believe? This is not a joke! All of our lives are at risk.
"You know Zein? You'll be the first to die of fear. Just calm down." Mia said laughing.
I looked at him.
We were all startled when the bell rang which echoed around. I hastily locked all the doors and windows.
I looked at the wall clock.
"7:00 oclock"
Silence enveloped us and I could feel the pounding in my chest. It's crowded.
"What's that?" Jerome asked.
"It's already bloody night." Vanessa said as she was about to go out the door but I quickly blocked her.
"What?! Are you going to kill yourself?" I asked annoyed but he just laughed at me.
"Easy, Zein. It's just a joke."
They laughed together. They make fun of serious things. Are they crazy?
"Guys please. I don't want anything bad to happen to any of us here. Just please!"
Annoyed, I sat on the sofa and folded my arms. Damn it!
"Hey, sorry." I felt Vanessa hug me and Mia stood next to me.
"Are you really scared Zein?" Mia asked me worriedly.
I felt tears welling up in my eyes because of the fear that something bad might happen to any of us. I don't want that to happen.
"Mia. I am really serious. There's something in this school more than this bloody night!"
I could feel the eyes of Madame and the mother on us earlier. They seem to be planning something. Gosh! Am I being paranoid?
"Sshh. Okay. Let's sleep for now on and we'll be leaving tomorrow as well." Mia hugged me too.
I just smiled. "Thank you." I whispered.
"Shhhh." We all looked at Dave when he signaled us to be quiet.
He peeked through a crack in the window. We approached him. We slightly opened the window to see what he was looking at.
I clung to Mia's arm. Lots of masked black people scattered around.
"Who are they?" Matt asked in a whisper.
They are scary. Who are they and what are they doing outside on this bloody night? Why are they wearing masks?
We quickly closed the window when one of them looked at us.
We ran to the side and gathered. I feel the pounding in all of our chests.
"Did they see us?" Vanessa asked trembling.
"I thin-"
Dave couldn't continue what he was going to say when someone knocked on our door one after the other as if it was already banging.
The pounding in my chest grew stronger.
"Stop it, Luke!" I heard a scream from outside.
"Okay okay."
The knocking has also disappeared. We stayed huddled in the corner until I fell asleep.
