A boy who fell from the sky.
Year 2XXX:
On a road in the rural area of Musutafu, Japan, a young American couple was making their journey back home. Their names are Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent. They were making the trip back home frustrated, returning from a nearby city where they had visited a fertility clinic.
They had been trying to have a child for several years, but it was becoming increasingly impossible for both of them to conceive naturally. For Jonathan, this was already bad, but for Martha, it was becoming inconsolable.
Giving up on staying silent, Jonathan spoke to Martha with a calm and loving voice.
'' We'll make it next time, it's just a matter of tim-''
''Jonathan, we've tried everything. We've spent so much money on doctors who said they could help us, and what have we achieved?! Nothing! I'm tired of getting my hopes up just to have them crushed every time!''
Martha shouted in frustration, pain evident in her voice.
''I know, dear, but there's nothing we can do. I understand your pain; I'm saddened by this situation too, but... there's nothing we can do...I think we should start considering adoption.''
He says with a voice full of pain, placing his hand on the woman's beside him, looking at her.
Holding her hand, he turns his eyes back to the road.
Martha was very sad; she knew the likelihood of them having a child was low, but she had always held onto hope. Now, she was exhausted.
"I think we should—" His voice is cut off by a thunderous noise from the sky. Jonathan abruptly stops the truck on the road. As they stick their heads out of the vehicle, they can see something falling from the sky, a satellite, perhaps a meteor?
They barely have time to formulate a thought before the object crashes into a field beside the road where they were.
After a few moments, they both get out of the vehicle and stop at the edge of the road. They both had looks of astonishment, their hearts beating rapidly in their chests.
"Let's go, I want to see what that was," she says, stepping off the curb and heading towards the impact site.
"What?! Are you crazy?! We don't know what that is or if it belongs to someone," he says, astonished by his wife's reaction.
"I always knew I was the brave one in this relationship, but not this much, John," she says, smiling at her husband as she continues toward the impact site.
"This woman is going to be the death of me," he says, sighing and following his wife.
They head towards the impact site where a trail of smoke rises into the sky. As they get closer, they see something in the crater.
"What do you think it is?" Martha asks, looking at her husband.
"I don't know, maybe it's a satellite that fell out of orbit," Jonathan speculates.
As they approached closer to the site and the smoke dissipated, they couldn't believe what they were seeing. "Is that... is that a spaceship?" Martha says indicating she might be expressing surprise or disbelief at the sight of the spaceship.
"I'm not sure. We should wait for someone else to show up," Jonathan says, starting to sweat.
Ignoring her husband's concern, Martha approaches the spaceship more closely.
At the sign of movement, the spaceship opens, releasing some kind of vapor. Martha hears a familiar sound, and her heart skips a beat.
"waaaah waaaah!"
Jonathan, who had come alongside his wife, couldn't believe what he was seeing and hearing either. In front of them, inside a spaceship that had fallen from the sky, there was a baby crying—a baby boy.
For a moment, they were paralyzed by the scene before them. Then Martha did something that shocked Jonathan. She approached the spaceship, took off her jacket, and wrapped the baby in it. As she did so, the baby's crying stopped, eliciting a sigh of relief from Martha.
Jonathan approached Martha in disbelief at what he was seeing.
"Martha, what are you doing? We don't know who or what he is. We can't just take him," Jonathan said, concerned.
"Don't tell me what to do, John. I know what I'm doing, can't you see? He's all alone here. I won't let him suffer cold and hunger. Besides, he's the answer to our prayers. I can't in good conscience leave him behind," she said, looking at her husband with seriousness and pleading in her eyes.
Jonathan sighed; he didn't want to leave the boy here either, but he was worried. Worried about what could happen if they took him.
"Take him to the truck and bring me a rope. I'll need four wheels to get this thing out of here," He says in resignation., pointing at the spaceship.
A big smile spreads across Martha's face. She heads towards the truck, but not before giving her husband a thankful kiss. Minutes later, she returns with a piece of rope.
"The other end is already tied to the truck; we just need to pull," she says excitedly.
"Alright, let's do this," he says, tying the rope to a strut of the spaceship and heading towards the truck.
