There was some discord between Chen Wei and Zhou Yi.
It wasn't a big deal, really. When Zhou Yi first joined the company, Chen Wei was the one who showed him the ropes, teaching him everything from scratch.
Chen Wei was a serious and responsible person by nature. When Zhao Yang asked him to mentor Zhou Yi, he took the task seriously.
The US stock market opened at 9:30 am. While the company didn't have strict requirements for working hours, arriving before 9:30 was expected from Zhou Yi by Chen Wei.
Upon arrival, they would review pre-market news and identify stocks with significant news. After market close, Chen Wei required Zhou Yi to summarize his day.
Under Chen Wei's strict guidance, Zhou Yi made rapid progress.
However, Zhou Yi didn't show much gratitude towards Chen Wei. Instead, he complained that Chen Wei's demands were too harsh.
Initially, Zhou Yi didn't show any signs of rebellion, but gradually, as he performed better, he started ignoring Chen Wei's instructions. He stopped coming to the office before 9 am and stopped summarizing his activities after market close. Sometimes, when Chen Wei criticized him, he would retort on the spot, saying that Chen Wei earned less than him and had no right to nag him.
As a result, their relationship deteriorated.
After understanding Zhou Yi's character, Chen Wei stopped paying much attention to him. But Zhou Yi kept provoking Chen Wei from time to time.
As Zhou Yi performed better, and Chen Wei struggled to make profits, their colleagues, especially newcomers, naturally sided with Zhou Yi, ridiculing Chen Wei.
Additionally, their supervisor, Zhao Yang, didn't treat Chen Wei well due to his lack of profitability, further worsening Chen Wei's reputation in the company.
When Zhou Yi heard that Chen Wei wanted to earn two thousand dollars in eight days to become a regular employee, he mocked him relentlessly, telling everyone, "Chen Wei said he could earn two thousand dollars in eight days, easy peasy!"
Their colleagues sneered at Chen Wei's audacity, ridiculing him for being arrogant and ignorant.
Encouraged by Zhou Yi's success, his mood soared.
Chen Wei ignored the taunts and focused on reviewing pre-market news.
Then, their supervisor, Zhao Yang, approached.
"What are you all doing here? Go back to your seats! It's almost market open, and if anyone loses money today, they'll have to answer to me!" Zhao Yang scolded the group.
The group returned to their seats, but someone seized the opportunity to inform Zhao Yang, "Zhao, Chen Wei said he wants to earn two thousand dollars in eight days this month!"
"Quite ambitious! Does he know his own capabilities? He says he wants to earn two thousand dollars in eight days? He better not lose two thousand instead!" Zhao Yang scoffed before walking over to Chen Wei.
Zhao Yang stood next to Chen Wei, looking at him sternly. "Chen Wei, let me warn you. Don't mess up again. If you lose money again, I'll suspend your trading privileges immediately! And from today, your trading limit is reduced to ten lots!"
Chen Wei was furious. His original trading limit was fifty lots, allowing him to trade up to fifty lots of a stock in a single transaction. But now, Zhao Yang had reduced it to ten lots. It was obvious he didn't want Chen Wei to make profits.
"What gives you the right to reduce my trading limit?" Chen Wei asked angrily.
"Right? I'm the supervisor! If you want your privileges back, earn some money first. I'll consider raising your limit once you start making profits. But I doubt you'll have that chance!" Zhao Yang replied coldly before walking away.
After Zhao Yang left, Zhou Yi sneered, "Poor Chen Wei! With only ten lots, you're worse off than a newbie! Good luck trying to become a regular employee!"
Chen Wei's face darkened, but he suppressed his anger, adjusted his emotions, and prepared for the market opening.
In trading, emotions could be detrimental. Whether one was excited, angry, or frustrated, emotions could cloud judgment. One wrong decision could lead to losses.
Zhou Yi focused on his computer screen, swiftly switching between stocks. Soon, he seemed to find an opportunity and quickly entered the market with a few keystrokes.
