Great chapter! You really changed the whole backstory and the relationship between ash and red compared to the previous version which is nice. Also red is a murderer??? Holy shit! My guess is that ash is some sort of clone of red. He could also be the son of Arceus in the chosen one style or even Giovanni's son. Regarding the romance aspect of the story I'd enjoy a relationship between ash and leaf who could take blue's role from the pokemon manga as the one abducted by the masked man like silver, a character whose existence and backstory you have already established. Another good option for the romance is misty whose fiery personality could mash well with Austin's and make a duo that would fuck team rocket up.

I actually really like this approach. Doing everything alone will be hard and there is nothing wrong with building a real connection with Delia. Austin had no hand in whatever happened that caused his displacement and he shouldn't feel guilty about it. If I were in his shoes i think I would try to do right by her and everyone that knew ash without compromising my position as an SI? and do more for them than the original ash did which admittedly was very little. I mean how often did ash see his mother really? Once per generation?
