because author is a fraud unfortunately 😂 for some reason when I first wrote and edit I honestly didn't even think of that. but when i reread it was pretty glaringly obvious isn't it. and then can't really say Shuzen hid her for 9 months, or he hid her like 6 months in, because yeah Kai would notice lol he's smart. but uh lorewise, servant families as a whole have undergone some evolutions due to the harsh environment some nobles put them through. so basically one of those evolutions is they magically keep belly flat, and this is because if a more particularly evil noble saw a pregnant servant, then they might just replace that servant rather than wait out pregnancy. so basically servants evolve to hide pregnancy as if it was a regular reflex and even work during it in order to survive. the only real difference btw a servant and a slave really is the name in this book. many nobles who hate slavers are pretty hypocritical and treat their servants just as bad if not worse. one of Kai big goals is to end this slavery and servant stuff.
