I think Laena is a reasonable fmc if you do the character well enough, I think it’d be overdone If you tried to do Laena with Rhaenyra.

Lil cousin cucking seems on brand for Targaryen blooded MC. Not that Rhea should be fmc but having her get pregnant by MC, and passing it off as Daemon’s legitimate child (Because Daemon ego too big to admit to everyone he got cucked by his cousin and/or the kid looks Targaryen enough so no one would believe him) would be hilarious.

Timeskip that long should be fine but hopefully we still see him at Aegon’s second nameday hunt. I personally prefer a well done timeskip rather than tedious training montages.

Hatching is own could be interesting, it’s still quite a few years till the dance. They are beings of magic so it wouldn’t be impossible that something accelerates a newly hatched dragons growth slightly so it’s a good size when needed. If you wanna avoid cliche but not have him hatch one there is always Grey Ghost or Sheepstealer or a OC wild dragon. Whatever you end up doing I’m sure it’ll be great!
I think the way your going with the story is great! A little bit of travel, character building, introducing some new companions/allies. Seeing him demonstrate some leadership and gather some followers would be cool. Maybe a boost to warging or greenseeing after visiting isle of faces. Crannogmen encounter would be interesting. Do you have any plans yet for which dragon/when he will claim it? Idk which direction your taking it long term but it’d be interesting to see if he takes Harwin’s place as baby daddy (since their kids would look more Targaryen).

I apologize for the lack of chapters this week; it has been a horrible week for me and has only become more complicated. I returned to the city where I study this past Sunday, and due to various reasons, I will have to find a new house and deal with all of that.
