It seems to me that the author doesn't speak math here. Hunger timer reduced by 100% means that the timer will be 0 (100-100=0), leading to instant death for Sylas. Then, hunger will be triggered infinitely many times in the first time unit (division by zero) until Sylas runs out of genes).

I don't know. I remember Sylas saying that he wants to keep his humanity and not to kill other humans unnecessarily. And here he goes and kills 10 people just because they talked to the professor. What about? He has no idea. No clear sign of bad intentions. I was also taken aback when Sylas just off-ed the two random adventurers who happened to enter the Basilisk dungeon after him. Without provocation.
That's true, but in this case the the author meant kph (kilometers per hour) instead of kpm, which is clarified in the following paragraphs. 3000 kph, almost three times the speed of sound is quite a challenge
