This reminds me a lot of Greek mythology. Which is suspicious, especially since in cannon Nephis knows of the Odyssey. I wonder if maybe retellings of whatever happened that made the gods fight amongst themselves slowly made their way into the mortal realms.
Therefore… by rebelling against the gods, had they rebelled against their own kin? Just like the gods themselves had waged war against their kin, the ineffable beings of the Void.

Everything seemed to happen in a single breath of time, and the moment Sylas' hair began to whip around in the air, dancing with the blazing green of his Will, he had already been surrounded by the elite cobras.

Man, I've been having this thought for a while now that every single member of the main cast could have been the MC. Like each of them have incredible potential Aspect wise as well as personality wise. I could totally see another author basing this novel around Nephis and her being the last of her clan of immortals. Or Kai being some type of cheesy harem protagonist, he has all the powers of one.
"...It was back on the Chained Isles. When I came to you, intending to recruit you to challenge the Second Nightmare together. And you told me that you received a vision of us dying in the winter. You have already been planning for today, all the way back then."

This reminded of Harus, the cripple hunched-back servant of Bright Lord Gunalug. In Volume 2, around the end of Forgotten Shore Arc, he almost killed Sunny by blinding him and beating him to death. He willing chose to be a loyal executioner who murdered any upstart Sleeper that made trouble, even after his Master was killed.
That was what Cassie had taken from him, as well.

I have this creeping thought that maybe that Echo is an Echo of Torment, Cassie's defiled self. After all, every defiled version of themselves so far was found in the exact same place as one of the Cohort's entry points. Maybe in every instance, Cassie has to fight herself, win, and then spend a year in charge of Fallen Grace alone.
Cassie's beautiful blue eyes were full of life, as well, even though she was blind. The sybils's eyes, though, were eerily empty and devoid of life. Her hollow stare made shivers run down Sunny's spine — he felt that way every time he saw an Echo of a human. Granted, this one was made in the image of a human who had succumbed to the Defilement.

Woooo! I was wrong, but there are so many good names I can think of!

****Spoiler***** ****Spoiler***** ****Spoiler***** ****Spoiler***** Kai always seems to end up in these situations of "being in the dark." I wonder if he does that on purpose.
Up until that moment, both of them were just disembodied voices to each other. But now, while Sunny had already made sure that Kai was not some ancient horror… or at least didn't look like one… the former prisoner of the well was still in the dark, both literally and figuratively.

Is this Dungeon Meshi?
In short, Kai was the most beautiful person Sunny had ever seen, even compared to other Awakened. He looked like one of those screen idols that people loved to obsess over, only somehow even more attractive in person.

I love rereading G3!
It was like the voice of someone you would want to be your friend.

The moment the two of them hit the ground, shattering a dozen buildings and sending cracks running through the carapace of the inconceivable carcass Twilight stood upon, Sunny was thrown off the body of the dreadful dragon.

"Why, certainly. I was just getting to it… ah, but I've been waiting for this moment for so long. It will be a shame not to enjoy it."

Oh no, Sunny.
Had Sunny been the first of the Six Plagues, and the one who had infected the other five?

Just before the net closed, forever sealing the Void, the radiant figure of the seventh god tore seven pieces of itself and sent them flying away. The radiant sparks — much brighter than the remnant sparks of the golden flame that would later become humans — escaped the cage just before it closed.
