Man you're trying to build tension and stakes and yet it just falls flat. Otto allying with Dorne? Yeah right, if he could do that, he would've done so for Daemon who he hates 100 times more than the twins in the stepstones. Also this draconic frenzy thing just makes the twins seem more incompetent. Daemon alone handled the step stones and lived a life full of danger never needing some mystical mumbo jumbo. The fact the twins need this to win or survive just speaks volumes of how incompetent they are. At this point, we are seeing only the bad sides of this so called power. You have them power, yet you skip over it's uses. All the glorious battles that these battles saved them in, you described in 2 sentences. Yet the drawbacks of said power, you spent litteral chapters describing. For us readers, you just saddled the MC's with weaknesses with nothing to show for it. This probably sounded way more impressive in your mind, sadly you failed miserably at painting us a picture where the introduction of these so called powers made the story or the life's of the twins better.

See that's the thing, they'll rebel anyways. Look at the MC's situation now, if he wants the throne he'll have to face Aegon and the Royalists. If he killed Aegon, he would have only to face the Royalists, who's cause would sound much less convincing without a royal prince. All I'm saying is, if he always wanted the throne and is ready to fight Aegon and his followers, he should've just killed him long ago, now he just complicated things for himself. The moment he decided not to kill Aegon, he should've stopped going after the throne, because that's what sparring Aegon means. He'll never get the throne without Aegon dead or imprisoned by him
