The most expensive places are New York and Washington DC. On top of that, the livable wage is based on full time work. As a part timer, he needs even more money per hour to be considered “high salary”. If he works 20 hours a week only, he needs to make double those values just to be able to live without worrying about how to pay his bills. I’ve gotten off topic here though. He makes $20 a day, which is 2 3/4 hours of work per day according to minimum wage. Let’s round that to 3 just for comfort. That puts him at 15 hours per week. So just to make a livable wage working 15 hours per week, he needs to be making about $40 per hour of work. Nowhere close to $20 per day being a good amount to call himself high salary. Author is just brain dead or is a rich kid who has never had to work a day in his 30 years of life and is completely disconnected from reality like those billionaire company execs who go on the news to say they pay a decent wage, and when the newscaster asks them to budget a month’s expenses on their lowest paid worker’s wages, they have no idea how much things cost and go bankrupt in a week.
