Vanessa, who obviously did not enjoy her evening at all, shrieked again and came at Harper with her hand raised, clearly intending to return Emory's slap onto the better enemy. Harper was just debating what to do with the wine in her hand that made it inconvenient to move around amidst the chaos, so she emptied that wine with a dramatic splash onto Vanessa's face.

I hope you find what makes you happiest to write! That’s the most important thing! My favorite part about things you’ve written, both in this book and in “BGIM,” was the buildup for the characters becoming their own and then being happy together. You can’t make someone happy. You share happiness. For example, in BGIM, Qing-er needed to become confident in her own right before she and Bai Ye were good for each other. Obviously with her twin blade…issue… and Bai Ye’s horrible communication skills created a lot of angst that provided a fun development arc. In this novel, Harper seemed to be well adjusted because she grew up with a good family life, but there were still things missing from the intimacy standpoint before she felt like she and Eli deserved each other. Idk, outside perspective, but I think you’re good at letting characters grow to be more than “just” the couple. The reason one loves couples like Xaden Riorson and Violet Sorrengail, or Rhysand and Feyre, is because they have unique traits that make them powerful together. They can’t get that way without their own hard road, and I’ve seen you draw that out with some of your characters. Really excited to see what you pen next.
