I wonder if he'd've been willing to do more if she'd mentioned that two of the ones she wants equipment for are 9-sigil lords/former apostles of a fallen god, who have literally zero chance of willingly fighting on the same side as the surface gods?

I just had a thought™: With how important the number 3 is in this series (three surface gods, Heart/Eye(s)/Crown of the Abyss, resonances (both sigil and general), etc.) is it possible that the end goal would be a 3 way ownership of the Abyss, between Alice, Alyss, and The Will? If 3 is stable and 2 is not, I wouldn't be surprised if that's why Velouria was dying due to being the Goddess of the Abyss. Alice and Alyss might do better simply due to being two beings... and may end up being able to wrest majority control away from The Will. Also, if 3 is better here... poly ending maybe? Alice/Alyss, Ria, and Luke throuple?
