Your question is totally valid. One of the most important aspects I'm trying to approach as the story develops is how exactly EM works and in which scenarios it is "triggered".I don't want to spoil much but during this first part (Kanto part of the journey) Emmet will learn a little bit about EM but won't explore it in depth for a multitude of reasons, one of them is indeed that he is a 15 year old with absolute no experience in handling pokemon at all. I hate to be cryptic but I can't seem to find a way to properly explain it to you without giving away one of EM's major weaknesses. What I can say is that when I designed EM I started with what it couldn't do, not what it could do. And so far in the story none of the "can't" have been shown.
"Firefly!" Emmet shouted, his voice a mixture of horror and urgency. His stomach dropped as he watched her sink to her knees, grimacing in agony at the point her foe's claws connected with her stomach. Weavile stood over her, laughing menacingly, its claw raised high, ready to deliver the final blow.

Haha it's not a cultivation novel, don't worry about it
Gratefully, and a bit sheepishly, Emmet takes the key. "Thank you, Nurse Joy. We'll be sure to do just that," he mumbles, making a beeline toward the showers for what promises to be the most thorough cleaning session of his life.

Hey guys, does anyone knows any other novel with a teacher system similar to this one?

The fast development of his team is by design but I agree I can slow it down a little bit, although it has been 100k words already and Firefly has still not evolved into Charizard. I don't want to spoil things but I have a "solution" that is not a xianxia trick to the situation, the only tip I can offer is that it's related to Leaf and will make journeying to other regions in the future something possible. I mean, every pokemon fic seems to revolve only around a single region, the journey starts with the first pokemon and ends with a cataclysmic showdown against a legendary or against one of the terrorist organizations. I want to eventually have Emmet go against everything Ash did (with some small exceptions), so the story has to allow him to have a way to travel through the world and beat each League while tackling the issues of the regions in a timely fashion. The fast growth is necessary, otherwise him facing Mewtwo and standing his ground will be even more ludicrous.
