It depends where alot of specialty or famous programs pay for schooling but not wages where other places pay wages and schooling and some just pay wages. It depends who you are mentored by. If a person is in high demand due to skill/knowledge usually unpaid but school is paid.
They do the most tiring work and get scolded countless times a day. Mentors scold, department doctors scold, nurses scold, and sometimes even patients and their families scold. And key point, they don't get paid.
