The folding method used in making of Japaneese katana's wasn't a revolutionary or specially effective method. It was the only option they had to work with the poor quality metal that was present on their island. The rest is pretty much nerdish culture doing its magic of mystificying everything that's related to Japaneese history. It sounds cool, but actually had little to no effect of the quality if you can get yourself good quality steel to begin with. Then again, who am I to say that MC reached the peak of his ability to craft? :3
'Is it just me or is the act of hammering something down using pretty much the same motions as punching out?' I thought, only to shake my head and then use the tongs to pull the finished half of the scythe's blade's body from the wreckage of the mold…

Read to find out :D What I can tell is that this part wasn't written randomly just to sound cool, but is a legitimate part of the story :3 (although, if you check your last paragraph comments, you might start seeing some connections)
"And Qi is nothing more than an echo of shared consciousness, isn't it?"

Thanks for the good word! The cover is ai-made, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were others like it
This part is intentionally convoluted and not really clear yet.
"After all, since Qi, mana, spiritual power, or however else you would like to call it, is just a shadow of shared consciousness. And that means, if I can infuse this power into the air, how else would its impurities manifest if not as dirt, pollution?"

Its a Scythe and (from the benefit of hindsight) its coming
"So, I'm going to make a scythe, huh?" I spoke to no one else but myself, finally allowing my eyes to move back to the selection of the materials accessible to me that I'd worked hard to neatly display directly on the floor.

I never really thought about it like that but well, in a sense... yeah >.>
Instead, each outburst of her now chaotic core would instantly vanish, its fierceness drawn away to one of the thousands of points of contact now littered all over her body, all of its minuscule energy drained by the points Tim made and serving to reinforce that specific part of her flesh.

I do not keepo the detailed records of everything for this novel (like, what chapter comes with what advances) so I can't say for sure but from the top of my head, I believe this here is a typo, consistiency mistake. And as far as I remember, yes, you are absolutely right, it should be sixth stage, my bad!
"Tim helped me out with it," Claire revealed without holding anything back but rather shaking her head instead. "To be perfectly honest, I don't think I would break through to the fifth stage so soon if not for his help."
