Maybe he still has trust in humanity and believes things like loyalty, integrity and responsibility exist.
I myself had no problems with the Rimuru character in "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" and I don't see a problem with a similar character here.

It feels like there were a couple chapters skipped.
