Project Cadmus
I walked silently as Guardian led me down the cold, metallic halls. I could feel the genomorphs' watchful presence pressing against my mind, trying to ensure I didn't make any sudden moves. Even after a year of this hell, they still didn't fully trust me, and rightly so. I was done playing their obedient little weapon.
My mind wandered back to the explosion I'd heard earlier. A gas leak? Not likely. Today is the day I'm banking on; I know that it was Dubbilex who planned it.
I didn't really get involved because I'm wary of Dubbilex. Although he cares about Superboy, he doesn't give two shits about me because I'm not a genomorph, what a hypocrite.
Then again, him not trusting humans i.e., me was actually smart of him because I probably would've ditched him if he and I escaped.
Yes, even with powers I am still the same cowardly lazy shut-in. I'm not a super genius or master martial artist or even some battle tactician that will help the genomorphs here when I can barely help myself.
That is one of the reasons I never tried to escape after the first try previously, because I was scared of getting caught again and making my situation worse.
We reached the chamber, the place they kept me locked up when they weren't putting me through their experiments. My living space for one year until now, normally I would just walk in the chamber and spend the rest of the day sleeping and fiddling with my powers but not now.
Faster than the G-Gnome on the left of Guardian's shoulder could react I fire a concentrated heat blast at it that explodes it into bloody mess.
Guardian instantly reacting charges at me but I meet him head on, he tries to give me a shield bash but focusing flames my feet I use the propulsion summersault over him avoiding his attack.
I'm not giving any change breathe as several genomorphs begin attacking me, I begin to regret for not thinking things through or having an escape plan.
Although they label me as a weapon, I have only been given basic hand to hand knowledge by the genomorphs telepathically that's why I can only dodge as the G-Elves attack me with impressive agility.
I don't particularly want to kill the genomorphs and get on Dubbilex and Superboy's bad side but I need to meet up with those sidekicks so that they can get me out. I send I blast to the three G-Elves attacking and land an uppercut to G-Troll that was about to attack.
Before I'm about to start running, an electric blast hits my back and sends me crashing into the nearby wall.
Fuck, since when did they have a G-Elf that could do that, is he an upgrade like Dubbilex.
"Get to your chamber Golden Boy, you are usually cooperative. Why the change?" asks Guardian.
I should have tried to get the second G-Gnome of his other shoulder but a surprise attack only works once.
Standing up from the rubble my thermokinetic aura blazes across my body, normal clothes would burn to a crisp but I'm wearing the suit Cadmus designed for me similar to Superboy but it's made of Hafnium Carbide so it doesn't burn.
"Did I ever tell you Guardian, I really hate that chamber" I growl out as my eyes glow amber.
"Do you really want to try to escape Luke, after all Cadmus and Dr. Desmond has done for you and your mother" Guardian bit back.
Yes, one of the reasons I was so cooperative with Cadmus excluding my fear of them was because they helped me with her medical bills in order to keep me docile, hell they even allowed me once to step out and burn the piece of shit that put her in a coma.
In a twisted way I am grateful to them but I can't whole heartedly trust this place run by shady people and the protection of the goody two shoes' Superheroes is much better.
"I don't really want to hurt you Guardian, despite our differences you've been a good caretaker. I think I'll just give you a light toasting".
God I'm beginning to sound like my dad.
"So, it's going to be like that-
BOOM!!
An explosion of the nearby wall interrupts us as a new G-troll collapse through the wall.
Three costumed teenagers step out and I'm relieved.
"What? Aqualad, Robin and Kid Flash?" exclaimed Guardian.
"I know you" Aqualad comments "Guardian, a hero"
"But who is the guy on fire?" Kid Flash points at me.
"That's classified. As the Chief of Security of Cadmus, you are trespassing but we can call the Justice League, figure this out" responded Guardian
"Please call the Justice League and get me out here" I instantly yelled at them.
"Again, who are you? And you think the Justice League is gonna be okay with breeding weapons?" Kid Flash replies to Guardian and I.
"Weapons?" Guardian questions genuinely confused "What are you- "the eyes G-gnome on his shoulder started glowing. I have always hated those telepathic G-Gnomes.
"Take them down and capture Golden boy, no mercy!" yells the mind-controlled hero.
Without any warning I blast G-Troll and it staggers back two other G-Elves begin attacking me, I dodge their attacks and counter with two right hooks to their face.
Aqualad faces off Guardian in hand to hand and I must say he is easily the most skilled person I have seen and can control his strength impressively
Kid Flash easily dodges the genomorphs attacking as Robin drops a smoke bomb that camouflages the whole area.
I sense the presence of someone behind me and am ready to attack but stop as I hear a hushed voice, "Come with me if you wanna live" I just stare at Robin bewildered. "Sorry always wanted to use that line, let's get out here kid"
I seriously wanted to reply I'm older than you but it's not the time to argue, I hastily follow him and the others as through the smoke as we hastily make our escape.
