Chapitre 6: Meeting with his Parents
After, Carlos, left the office, he headed to his home.
There, he left the paperwork in his desk, picked up his backpack, and headed to school.
After spending a few hours there, thoroughly disliking his math and science classes, he headed home.
No one really noticed his absence, besides maybe Mr. Lincoln.
But, when he got home, his mother asked him how school went, and he told her that he actually skipped half the day.
"Y porque?" (And why?)
"Porque yo fui a ver a un editor de libros." (Because i went to see an editor for books)
"Un editor, que es eso? Eso es para la escuela?" (An editor, what that? Is that for school?)
"No, ma, eso es algo diferente, es el algo que yo quiero hacer en el futuro." (No, mom, that something different, it's something I want to do in the future.)
"Para el 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙤? Y luego pa que no fuistes a la escuela?" (For the 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚? And then, why didn't you go to school?)
"Porque yo pense que esto fue mas importante." (Because I thought this was more important)
"Como va ser algo mas importante?!" (How is it going to be something more important?!)
Daniel took a moment to think.
"Porque ellos me dicen que yo puedo ganar $20,000 o mas si me ayudan publicar a mi libro." (Because they're telling me I can earn $20,000 or more if they publish my book)
"Ay, puro chisme." (Ay, they're lying)
"No, leverdad, mira, tengo un contrato." (No, seriously, look, I have a contract)
"No me digas que firmastes eso!" (Don't tell me you signed that!)
"No, no firme nada, nomas vine a decirles." (No, I didn't sign anything, I just came to tell you)
"Okay, bueno, hablamos con tu papa sobre esto cuando llega." (Alright, fine, we'll talk with your father when he gets here)
So, Daniel waited in his room, reading the contract, while his mother made food.
Finally, his father arrived.
So, they all went to eat, and his mother told Daniel to tell his father what he told her.
"Dile." (Tell him)
"..."
Daniel took out his contract and showed it to his father.
"Esto es un contrato que me dio una publicista, dice que quieren comprar mi libro por $20,000" (This is a contract that a publicist gave me, she says they want to buy my book for $ 20,000)
Daniel's father picked up the contract and read through it.
Daniel looked at his father, and wondered what he was thinking. He trusted his father, but was also very excited to sign the contract.
Although Daniel was mature for his age, he still didn't know much about the world and he didn't want to make an overzealous decision. Daniel knew not to get too excited, but it was very difficult and he hoped his father would help him.
"Que crees?" (What do you think?)
"Se mira bien, pero, necesitas que hablarle a un abogado que sabe de esto, uno que sabe un poquito de publicacion." (It looks good, but, you need to talk to a lawyer who knows about this, one who knows a little about publishing.)
"Okay"
Daniel and his family then didn't really say anything else and enjoyed their meal. Although, his mother was a bit frustrated and was probably going to talk to his father after the meal.

"Y luego como le va pagar?"
"Yo se le voy a pagar."
"Que?! Y cuanto crees que eso va a costar?" (What?! And how much do you think that is going to cost?)
"Ya se, pero se mira bien el contrato, y tu sabes cuanto le gusta sus libros, casi todos los dias yo le miro escribiendo algo, tiene un chingo de paginas en su cuarto." (I know, but the contract looks good, and you know how much he likes his books, almost everyday is ee see him writing something, he has a ton of pages all around his room)
"Si, pero quien sabe si nomas es un fase." (Yeah, but who know if it's just a phase)
"Si, pero, me gusta mas que esta tratando. (Yes, but i like that he is trying)
Alija took a second to re-evaluate and decided that this was most probably the best for her son. She looked at her husband and smiled. She loved his care for their son. She grabbed the back of his neck with both hands lovingly and said;
"Bueno, pero, si no sirbe es tu culpa." (Fine, but if it doesn't work it's your fault)
His father grabs his mother around the waist.
"Y como va ser mi culpa, si tu eres la que dijo que si." (And how is it gonna be my fault, you're the one who said yes.)
The two laugh and kiss.

Daniel went into his room and thought about where he could go to see a layer.
He decided to ask his father if he could take him somewhere over the weekend.
When Saturday approached, his father took him to see a lawyer Daniel found after asking Mr. Lincoln if he knew anyone.
He took his recommendation, and the lawyer told him that it was a very good contract for a rookie, he was also pretty generous and ended up only charging him $100 as a consultation fee.
When that matter settled, Daniel decided to call Carl, he accepted the deal and was ready to sign the contract.
They both decided that Daniel should sign the contract in person, so that Daniel could come to the office and they could further discuss the release of his book.
