43.31% Wretch: Exception To The Rule / Chapter 81: Pheonix

Chapitre 81: Pheonix

Standing on his offspring's back, Axio overlooked the path of destruction he had left, ironically due to creating an abundance of structures.

Monsters from the dungeons and his spawned animals swarmed everywhere, clouds of insects cast gigantic shadows on the ground.

Since Axiolypito had little control over the dungeons, he had only accounted for his spawned creatures when quickly coming up with this plan, the way the dungeons and towers manifested and what they would themselves spawn was only bonus.

He had set a variety of spawners to float around his offspring, which constantly spawned mosquitoes, they remained in an area around them, covering his advance, although, since they were being spawned without end, the circle had grown to terrible proportions, putting him in the center of a dome of buzzing noises.

No one seemed very interested in constesting with the bloodsuckers, probably because he had made sure to spawn a particularly nasty species that tended to carry diseases.

He looked through the eyes of some of his needled offsprings that he had released after the one drapped in her own skin, those were small and even weaker than the average wretch but they had been bred and fused to be sneaky and perfect eyes for him.

Thus, he didn't miss the moment a thin pillar of some purplish mana shined in the distance, quite far from his own position as well from the fighting actually, feeling like he recognised this as some sort of spatial magic, he turned to where he believed The Scourge was at.

"I sense that it will soon turn to shit, go back and tell Prophet to start battering on the barrier with whatever forces he has, he should get there as fast as he possibly can" he said, sounded a bit disinterested.

The orc had the advantage of being the ultimate meat shield, for he could take anything to the face and was actually willing to do it, his immortality was why Axio had first tried to strike deals with him, asking him to father some orcs that he could use for his own designs.

His immortality didn't seem like something that could be inherited, at least not in full, all he got was some non-aging, ultra regeneration and such, though clearly, none could compare to him, even if one could survive having their hearts ripped out and head crushed, they wouldn't be in peak condition any time soon and just a bit more damage would put them in their grave.

Still, it was good enough, more regenerative abilities was always better.

With all that he had stacked into the offspring he was standing on, she should be able to absorb significant damage, though, he still believed her to be imperfect, she had definitely reached the limits with fusing and had already produced plenty of offsprings just like her that could be used in fusions.

She was outdated, nothing compared to what he was brewing in secret, so he made an easy decision as he watched the pillar of mana dissipate.

"Go intercept them" he ordered as he hopped of off her shoulder and getting the mosquitoes to get out of the way.

She instantly went without complaint, there was no rebellion for his offsprings, even without the needle in their necks, Axio knew what he was doing when creating them, he was far beyond only using his limitless charisma as he had been in his first few days of life.

He went on walking by himself, both The Scourge and his offspring gone, he still had to go slowly so that the mosquitoes would be able to follow, he had moved the hovering spawners to himself, everything seemed like they would go smoothly...

Until they didn't.

The wretch had bothered to learn about the various groups and species of Amor, not wanting to be taken by surprise by anything but also the conquering of this country was deemed to reap lots of benefits for him, he would be free from a lot of missions once Lordlorn was under the Obsidian Queen control and also because it housed a few species he hadn't gotten his grasp's on yet.

So when vermillion flames suddenly cut through the mosquitoes and a knight with red wings and feathers landed right in front of him, he knew that he would be forced to actually make moves himself.

His face crunched up at the disturbance, he completely ignored the knight giving some sort of speech and instead, unceremoniously summoned a whole tower in his face.

He was pushed away but Axio quickly saw a trail of fire homing on him, dodging this was child's play, he rushed forward, jumped and ran along the back of the pheonix beastman, the flames not quick enough to even warm him up.

Axio tried to claw at his wings with no success apart from ruffling his feathers a bit, though he did leave a present for him.

Not being an amateur, the knight attempted to destroy the hovering orb that seemed on the verge of exploding, but as he turned around mid-air to break it, it just followed his movement as if stuck to his back.

Without hesitation, he swung his oddly-shaped sickle-looking sword behind him but just one setback was enough for it to go off, unleashing a bunch of disgusting little creatures.

Horsehair worms to be exact, parasites that wouldn't be able to infect the winged knight but that would crawled all over him and be disgusting in general.

It was no problem however, the knight simply ignited himself with his lesser pheonix flames to burn the parasites to nothingness.

Only, the monster he had targeted before was nowhere to be seen now, he was certain that he had been there a moment ago and he hadn't noticed him moving away either, though...

He hadn't seen it coming at all when he jumped on him mid-air and while a charge too, he hadn't even felt the thing's weight on his back, only it touching his feathers.

The huge swarm of mosquitoes was still buzzing but not attacking at all, he had seen the little monster send the orbs floating around him into the swarm before they had first clashed.

After much struggle since the breach, he knew that those could make animals appear indefinitely and it seemed like the owner of those was just here.

Getting rid of him would be instantly beneficial but the fact that a monster with such a handy ability was unknown to Amor was quite worrying, he had also completely disappear from his honed senses without him noticing or suspecting a thing.

'Could he be the one that got through the barrier?' he looked around intensely, expecting the monster to come back any second, not yet realising that Axio had simply left for the next device maintaining the barrier, giving up on his veil of mosquitoes and simply going full speed.

The knight cautiously reached for a cummunication device and sent a message.

"I have found the monster that controls the cage-orb things, he is much faster than me, forward this to the sword saint" he quickly reported while keeping his guard up.
