Chapitre 366: Chapter 365: Mr. Fantastic's Research

Lois's situation turned out to be much simpler than Clark had imagined. The child wasn't rebellious at all; she just wanted a father and an apology, nothing more!

However, the simpler it was, the more guilty Clark felt.

After a long conversation, Clark also got to know about Lois's life before she became an adult. Simply put, apart from lacking parental love, her life was quite good.

In her world, Earth was protected by the Avengers, and her life was relatively peaceful. She had been raised by Monica Rambeau, Clark's aunt.

Although Monica did not know Clark in that timeline, she knew Captain Marvel. Out of respect for Captain Marvel, Monica helped raise Lois until she was an adult, after which Monica resumed her interstellar travels.

So, Lois had always called Monica "aunt." The family relationship might be a bit confusing, but it was still understandable...

Lois came back here not because she couldn't survive in that timeline but purely to find her father.

She was definitely his real daughter!

As for disciplining this child, Clark had made up his mind.

Indulge her, absolutely!

She likes cars?

Well then, Clark transferred all his limited edition sports cars to her name. She could do whatever she wanted with them as long as she didn't street race.

Drive one, smash one, don't save money for me!

He even gave her Thanos' levitating chair that he had acquired during the raid on Sanctuary III as a toy.

Financially, Clark played to his strengths in spoiling his child, giving Lois two unlimited credit cards, the kind that could never be maxed out.

One was valid globally, and the other was valid throughout the universe.

"I'm sorry, Lois." After handing over the credit cards to his daughter, Clark apologized again: "You've come home, and I should really spend more time with you, but as you heard from that guy called the Planet Devourer, there's a big trouble coming to the entire universe. To protect our home, I must investigate and resolve this crisis. So..."

"It's okay." Lois responded understandingly, "As long as you don't ignore me like mom did, always being a hero around the universe and not caring about me. Fighting to protect our home, I can understand that, and I can even help. You don't really think I'm as unreasonable as I seemed before, do you?"

Nodding, Clark smiled warmly: "For the next few days, just enjoy yourself. I've already spoken to Mindy, and she will show you around. Things here might not be as advanced as they were in 2040, but whatever is available here, you can have. Even if you wanted the moon, I could shrink it with Pym Particles and give it to you as a ball to play with."

Lois paused for two seconds, "According to Aunt Monica, this is called spoiling."

"Haha..." Clark laughed, "Who asked you to grow up? Now that you have established mature views, I just need to be your strongest support. Also, in the universe, not many people may know my name; they usually remember my nickname, 'Prince.'"

After chatting for a while longer, Mindy arrived on an eight-legged steed at the villa's gate. After handing over Lois to her, Clark suddenly appeared on the villa's rooftop.

While he was having a heart-to-heart with Lois, he had sensed someone's presence here. But for Clark, no matter how big the universe was, his daughter was his priority. Even if the Court of Living Tribunal came calling, they would have to wait!

Moreover, the person on the rooftop should also sacrifice some time for Lois because it was none other than Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers!

...

New York, Baxter Building.

This was the headquarters of the superhero family team, the Fantastic Four, and one of the few fixed assets owned by Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic.

As a superhero with a genius brain, living in a world dominated by black technology like the Marvel Universe, it was somewhat ironic that all he owned was a building.

Yet, even now, this super-scientist wasn't thinking of using his genius to get rich and provide a better life for his family and friends.

After witnessing the entire process of Clark and others defeating tyrants, banishing Stardust, and repelling the Planet Devourer, Reed, who had seen what true power looked like in the universe, immediately accelerated his research projects upon returning home.

Before him now was a machine resembling a luxury sports car.

This device, originally owned by the ancestral Sorus of the Heirs family, had the capability to travel between parallel universes. After Sorus was beaten to death in space by Clark, this time-traveling equipment became ownerless. Clark, after seeing Sorus's abilities, naturally assumed he had traveled through his own powers and never considered that the technology might end up on

 this world.

As a result, this universe-hopping car was first discovered by the Fantastic Four and taken into their possession.

"Thank you, dear." Reed took a sip of the coffee handed to him by his girlfriend, Invisible Woman, and then pointed to a machine near the space car, explaining, "That car from who-knows-where gave me a lot of inspiration. Through studying it, I've finally found some directions to harness parallel universe energy."

"If my experiment succeeds, no matter what troubles Earth and the universe encounter, we can contribute to protecting our home, instead of just being support staff providing insignificant help. Or just spectators during a major battle."

"You being able to be a spectator is already quite something." As Human Torch and the Thing entered the room, the former spoke: "And the three of us didn't even qualify to remotely watch from Clark One when the Planet Devourer threatened. I mean, in other stories, someone as handsome as me usually plays the protagonist, right?"

The Thing humorously added, "Like Captain America?"

Invisible Woman then calmly asked, "Reed, how far along is your research?"

"It's still in the early stages, but now we can start by scanning the nearby parallel universes..." As he spoke, Reed didn't hesitate to activate the unfinished machine.

The search for parallel universes inherently required a massive amount of energy, so much so that the entire Baxter Building's power supply was interrupted as the machine, posing as a prototype, sucked in all available energy.

Meanwhile, Reed continued to explain to his companions, "Actually, my research wouldn't have progressed this quickly without inspiration from Tony Stark, Hank Pym, and Bruce Banner. Each of them is a genius, and I found many ideas in their archives that helped me break through many previous obstacles..."

"Szzzzz..."

Accompanied by a series of electrical arcs, a light on the machine lit up.

Mr. Fantastic was overjoyed and pushed a lever forward, suddenly opening a spatial vortex.

Seeing this, the faces of the Fantastic Four lit up with excitement.

This phenomenon, resembling a spatial vortex, might not have a known specific function yet, but its emergence already indicated that Mr. Fantastic's research was initially successful—a undoubtedly great news for them.

However, before they could take the next step, an invisible energy burst from the transportation channel, catching everyone off guard and entering Invisible Woman's body.

She was thrown backward by the force of the energy from the parallel universe, and Mr. Fantastic and Human Torch were too slow to react.

Just as her back was about to hit a sharp corner of a metal rack in the lab, potentially causing a tragedy, Susan suddenly unleashed her own energy, forming an invisible protective shield around her body.

"Bang!"

The force of the impact twisted and deformed the metal rack behind her, absorbing much of the force that was transferred from Susan's body, then smashing through the wall behind her and ending up in the center of the adjacent warehouse with Susan.

After landing, Invisible Woman hadn't even had time to understand how she became the target of that unknown energy, how she managed to activate her powers without any preparation, when her mind went blank, and she fainted.

"Susan!"

Not expecting such an accident from a minor test, Reed hurriedly shut down the machine's power and rushed with the others to check on Invisible Woman's condition.
