Chapitre 18: Chapter 18. Wandering

Cyrus hasn't caught any prey for two days. He has been walking far with his two little cheetahs, and apart from resting at night, they have been searching for prey almost the whole day.

The grassland during the dry season is like a cruel test given by nature to predatory animals. They have fearsome sharp teeth and claws, but are useless.

Calvin and Charlie can hardly keep up with Cyrus. Cyrus once wanted to change his form and hold two cheetahs, but the cheetahs refused.

"Dad can do it, so can we!"

Calvin propped up his small chest, while Charlie squatted on the side, clearly supporting his brother's decision.

Cyrus was so moved that he almost burst into tears.

Three cheetahs were walking along a dry tributary of the Gangsa River. Whenever they encountered termite mounds or higher mounds, Cyrus would jump up and look around. The cheetah's vision was excellent, and all prey within two thousand meters could not escape his eyes.

However, Cyrus was once again disappointed. No prey, not even a wild rabbit.

If we can't find any more prey, not to mention two little cheetahs, even he is at risk of starving to death.

"Dad, where are we going?"

Cyrus couldn't answer Charlie's question, and he didn't know either. It was just his instincts driving him forward. If he paid attention to the signs and smells on the road, he would find that they had already left the territory of the Orus lion pack. The area they were currently in was sandwiched between two lion pack territories, crossing the riverbed and facing the territory of another group of lions. Life there was also difficult.

Cyrus doesn't expect to encounter antelopes or anything like that, at least there's a warthog or something like that. Can he be asked to catch field mice like a serval?

"Dad, Dad!"

Calvin's cry interrupted Cyrus's self blame, and when he turned around, he found two little guys tapping on a rocky turtle with their claws.

By the way, is this called a turtle?

Cyrus walked over and also lifted his paws to knock on the turtle shell. The two little cheetahs looked at Cyrus in the eyes, clearly saying, Dad, can this be eaten? Should I be able to eat it? Can we definitely eat it, right?

Cyrus is embarrassed and once again faces a historic decision: will cheetahs eat this thing? Besides, most cheetah cubs wouldn't have the first thought of eating this guy, would they?

Is this another issue of one's own education? Cyrus refuses to think about it.

The claws and teeth of a cheetah have no way of dealing with the turtle shell, but it's hard for Cyrus. He transformed into a human figure, picked up the creature that had shrunk into a turtle shell, and led two little cheetahs to find a tree shade. Using stones and hard dead branches, he demonstrated how to "uncover the mystery beneath the turtle shell.".

Facing such a cheetah family that eats both meat and vegetables, it can only be considered unlucky for this turtle. Considering that he could have escaped unscathed in the face of lions, but died under the paws of cheetah, it can be called "Hares may pull dead lions by the beard."...

Cyrus also ate a little by himself and waited for a while before feeding the two cheetahs without any discomfort.

In fact, turtle meat is different from antelope meat. Cheetahs may not taste good, but filling their stomachs is more important than anything else. Anything that can be eaten should not be wasted at all.

While the two small cheetah were buried in eating, the jackal that had been following Cyrus and his son came over. Maybe he just wanted to pick up some scraps to fill his stomach. During the dry season, everyone's life was difficult, but his shrill cry might attract lions or hyenas.

Cyrus only intended to drive him away. After all, cheetah don't eat hyenas. Occasionally, cubs chase them just to practice hunting skills. However, this hyena was too stubborn and insisted on not leaving. Maybe he wanted to attract the hyenas. Hyenas will seize the cheetah's prey and drive them away, but they don't mind the hyena getting a share.

The entanglement of the jackal finally angered Cyrus, who rushed forward and killed him.

Biting tightly on the neck of the jackal, the fresh blood at the entrance moistened Cyrus's thirsty throat. Throwing the dead jackal aside, Cyrus didn't take another look at him.

After eating, the three cheetahs continued on.

It's already difficult to find water sources elsewhere, so Cyrus took an adventure and approached the Gangsa River with two little cheetahs. The water level of the river is already very low, with an astonishing number of crocodiles and massive hippopotamuses occupying the best positions. Cyrus cautiously approached the riverbank with the cheetah, drinking water while being wary of nearby crocodiles and hippopotamuses. Although hippopotamuses are vegetarian, their temper is notorious for being irritable. Moreover, Cyrus saw a small hippopotamus in a group of hippopotamuses, and the mother hippopotamus was able to bite the crocodile in two at once. Cyrus absolutely did not want to be targeted by these mother hippopotamuses who were protecting their calves.

After drinking water, Cyrus immediately led the two small cheetah away from the riverbank. But he didn't go too far, instead quietly hiding in the forest belt on the shore. He was convinced that other animals would come to the river to drink. Although hunting here was risky and he might encounter lions or other predators, he had no other choice.

Finally, Cyrus' patience paid off, and several dog-like gazelles appeared. He had to admire his good fortune. Dog-like gazelles mainly rely on the stems and leaves of plants to absorb water and rarely drink water. However, in any case, he and his children's dinner were settled.

Calvin and Charlie suppressed the excitement of seeing their prey without making any sound. The dog antelope was very vigilant, but did not notice the cheetah with its eyes shining. As they left the riverbank and approached the forest, Cyrus suddenly rushed out of his hiding place. Less than thirty meters away, the dog antelope had no chance of escaping. Cyrus bit the neck of the antelope and brought it back to the two cheetahs. The two cheetahs almost eagerly rushed towards the prey. Cyrus looked around and didn't find any lions or hyenas, so he immediately lowered his head and started eating.

By the time the vulture arrived, there was nothing left of a dog antelope.

In the evening, Cyrus returned to the territory boundary of the Orus lion pack with two cheetahs. There, he met two male lions that were not unfamiliar, Fillet and Eero.

The two male lions are noticeably stronger than three months ago, and their manes are even thicker. This pair of lion brothers did not appear here to cause trouble for the Orus lion pack, as they are still young and do not have the ability to challenge adult male lions. They are only chasing prey.

However, Cyrus was surprised by the prey they had chosen.

An adult giraffe!

Perhaps they are starving their heads, otherwise, would young lions who have just lost their baby teeth attempt to catch adult giraffes? As long as you get kicked by a giraffe, you will definitely be either dead or injured.

As expected by Cyrus, Fillet and Eero did their best but only left a few wounds on the giraffe.

Cyrus and two little cheetahs lay on the tall grass, marveling at the ambition of these brothers, and a flash of inspiration flashed in their minds.

To catch these big guys, maybe, there is not no way...
