Liam Sinclair stood at the center of the room, a magnetic presence amidst the crowd. With his chiseled features and effortless charm, he was the epitome of allure, drawing admiring glances from nearly every student at the gala. He was used to this attention, but tonight, it felt particularly weighty.
"Liam, my man!" A voice cut through the hum of conversations. Max Thompson, Liam's best friend, made his entrance with characteristic flair. "That's Eva Carter," Max said, following Liam's gaze. "Heard she's as brilliant as she is elusive. Doesn't seem too impressed with all this," he gestured vaguely at the room, "glitz and glamour."
Liam's interest was piqued. "Really? She doesn't look like she's here to play the game."
"Not even a little," Max said with a smirk. "But that's what makes her interesting, right? You're going to have your work cut out for you if you want to get her attention."
Liam's eyes never left Eva as she engaged in animated conversation with her friends, seemingly indifferent to the attention of others. He could see why she had caught Max's attention—there was something captivating about her.
"I don't mind a challenge," Liam said, a determined smile forming on his lips. "But I think I'll need your help on this one."
Max raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And what kind of help are we talking about?"
"Just the usual—schemes, plans, and maybe a bit of mischief," Liam said. "I want to get to know her, but I don't think traditional methods are going to work here."
Max's grin widened. "Sounds like my kind of challenge. Consider it done."
