33.33% What Was I Thinking? / Chapter 7: A Sudden Visit

Chapitre 7: A Sudden Visit

"Are you really serious about this?" I asked. Yamazuki didn't look like an airhead who'd just do things without thinking. There was definitely a reason behind this invitation.

Is she trying to kidnap me? and smuggle me to another country? I think that's a bit too much for a high schooler to do stuff like that. But still, the chance of being smuggled by a high schooler is low, but never zero.

"Yep, you're not the only one whom I asked to visit Fumiko-chan," Yamazuki said.

That kind of explained the reason for the invitation. But not completely though. That reason seemed too strange to be true.

"I always bring people who seem to get along with Fumiko-chan to her house. You're not the first boy you know."

I am not the first boy? What? Something's definitely wrong with this girl. Well, it's good that you care about your friends but you can't just bring people to her house now and then. instead, just introduce them to her later.

"Would she be okay with that?" I asked, "as a girl, she might not feel comfortable around guys."

"Yep," She quickly replied, "Don't worry. She said she was fine with it."

I think Fumiko said that only because she didn't want to hurt one of the best buddies.

She replied, "Let's go then."

I followed Yamazuki since I didn't have any other choices.

...

"Oh, hello Yuki-chan," I heard a voice from the inside of Fumiko's house;

I was waiting outside. I was feeling very awkward at that moment. To be honest, it was my first time visiting someone like this.

When I was in the USA, I spent most of the time with my younger sister. I didn't have any friends at school, some people did try to interact with me but lost interest pretty soon. It didn't bother me that much, at least I wasn't bullied at that moment. It's pretty surprising that no one bullied me despite me being such a weirdo. Maybe, I wasn't even worth bullying. I don't even care about that anymore now.

The voice didn't sound like Fumiko's, it was probably her mom or her big sister.

"Good afternoon, Fuchizawa-san. I brought a friend today with me." I heard Yamazuki's voice from the inside.

I heard the door open and Yamazuki came out. She looked kind of surprised when she saw me standing there

"You didn't run away, amazing," She said with her wide-open eyes like me not running away was an unusual thing.

"Why would I?" I asked.

"Well, some of them did, I thought you might as well run away too." She said.

I can feel those students who ran away, I wanted to do that too but my ego didn't let me.

"Do you think that lowly of me?" I asked.

Completely ignoring my question, she said, "Come in."

I took my first step into her house, it was a classic family house and was kind of similar to my house. The kitchen and the bathroom were in the same spot. Fumiko's mom was standing beside Yamazuki. She warmly greeted me.

"Oh, you are Fumi's new friend? oh gosh, she has been making a lot of friends nowadays, haha," Fumiko's mom, let out a small laugh, covering her mouth with her hand.

I took a slight at Yamazuki's face, she was smiling at Fumiko's mom. For some reason, I felt like something was off with what Fumiko's mom just said.

"Fumiko is currently in her room, go and meet her," Fumiko's mom said, "Make yourself at home"

With that, she walked towards the kitchen.

Yamazuki was going upstairs. I quickly stopped her by grabbing her hand.

"Oi, what?" She looked startled.

Oof, grabbing her hand out of nowhere was a wrong thing to do. I should've called her.

"It's just... I wanted to know Fumiko's last name. It'd be strange to call her by her first name all out of nowhere."

"Oh, it's Fuchizawa, Fumiko Fuchizawa. I forgot to tell you that, my bad."

I wanted to say something but kept silent and followed her to Fumiko- err I mean Fuchizawa's room.

...

To be honest, I didn't expect Fuchizawa to react like that. She didn't look pleased when I entered her room. Fuchizawa's reaction was a mixture of shock and fear, I didn't know why but she definitely didn't want me here.

Maybe, coming here was the wrong thing to do.

"You probably know him right?" Yamazuki asked.

Damn it, why are you asking such a question at this moment. You also noticed her expression right?

"Y-yeah, I met him at the library a day ago," Fuchizawa replied.

"Yep, that's why I-," before Yamazuki finished Fuchizawa spoke up.

"Excuse me,"

With that, she went towards the washroom.

I looked at Yamazuki, she looked kind of confused. She looked at me, her eyes were filled with a mixture of confusion and a bit of anger.

"Did you do anything?" Yamazuki asked.

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"Fumiko-chan never reacted like that before."

"I am confused too."

"Don't play dum-"

"Sorry for that sudden leave," Fuchizawa returned, she looked pretty calmer than before.

"Why you suddenly leave? You got me worried."

"Ahaha, don't worry about it. It's just... I wanted to wash my face. That's it"

"I see"

Well, it was a strange way to go to wash your face.

Fuchizawa turned to me, "Nice to meet you again Kaname-kun."

"Nice to meet you again too," I replied.

Fuchizawa's room was very clean. I've always thought a girl's room would be pink and filled with cute stuffed toys. But her room was totally different. The room was pretty big, it had a big bookshelf which was filled with different types of books, novels, and some mangas.

There were some stuffed toys on the bed, and some were on here study table.

"You have a lot of books, Fuchizawa-san,"

"Oh, yeah. I guess I am kind of passionate about books, haha" She replied.

I took a sit on Fuchizawa's study chair since there wasn't any seat left. Yamazuki was sitting on the bed with Fuchizawa.

"By the day, how is your brother now?" Yamazuki asked.

"Oh- he's....he's alright now. It was just a normal flu."

"I'm glad he's okay, come to school tomorrow okay?"

"I'll try to," Fuchizawa replied.

We talked about some random things, most of the talking was about her brother. Apparently, Fuchizawa's younger brother Arato was frail since he was born. There is a way to make his condition better but that surgery costs a lot, and there were no guarantees that the surgery would be successful.

I felt pretty bad for her. It must've been hard for her family to live like that. Both of her parents are government employees. Her grandmother and aunt take care of her brother. Sometimes, if the condition goes bad, Fuchizawa has to stay at home and take care of him.

I was chatting pretty well when all of a sudden my phone started buzzing. I took out my phone from my right pocket and checked who called me.

"Excuse me,"

I got out of the room and went to the washroom. The caller was my dad. It was an unusual time for him to call. It's probably nighttime there.

"Hello, Dad?" I said.

He gave me an unexpecting reply. He said,

"Where are you right now?!"
