Chapitre 45: 044 Meeting Teacher Again

"Blaise, what is the game plan?" Mercury wanted to know their next steps.

The whole group wanted to know as well. Do they continue on to push for conquering dungeons, keeping the meeting with the merchant and gathering guilds, or looking into the Evil presence in Glish.

"I want to see if I can talk to my Teacher again, he might have more information on the matter of the hidden Evil. After that there is the meeting with the two guilds. Finally we will go to the dungeon." Blaise laid out the game plan.

The powerful leaders of the city were wondering about James's teacher. Alfred said he came in contact with ancient magic, is there a correlation between the Teacher and the ancient magic?

"That is a good idea, since he was able to impart his ancient knowledge on spells he might know more about this supposed Evil." Alfred liked James's plan.

As much as they wanted to ask about James's teacher the leaders of the city kept their questions to themselves. James had Alfred backing him after all.

"Okay I will talk to you guys after I talk to my Teacher." James turned to his friends and bid farewell.

James started channeling his Return to Knowledge spell. He was hoping it had been enough time for the mana crystals to regenerate their mana.

Both the leaders of the city and James's friends were mystified at what they were seeing. James's spell was unlike any of them had seen before. A magical circle started to appear below James's feet. It was complex and elegant to look at. Strands of mana started to form from the magic circle. They floated and danced around as they began circling around James. His body started to glow with an aura of mana and runes started forming inside the air.

An ancient presence descended around James; it shattered the previous sinister aura that spontaneously descended a few minutes ago. The mana within the magic classes started to tremble, it was as if the mana formed into a heartbeat. Soon a faint thumping sound filled the air from the large collection of Mages on the city wall.

A column of white and gold light rose from his body to the sky. His body slowly started to flicker in and out of sight. It flickered faster and faster until he was completely gone. The magic circle, strands of mana, and the column of light also disappeared.

During the whole process of James's teleport the Oasis made a drastic change. The previous withered appearance returned to the lush and healthy look that James would recognize. The mysterious dark figure returned to the appearance of a human.

"They are becoming aware of your presence; you won't be able to maintain your façade for long." Roland spoke in a stoic tone.

"It will be far too late before they figure anything out. I have long since hidden a Seed elsewhere under the city. It will distract them and they will never catch on." said James's Teacher.

All James saw was white during the process of teleportation. Only when he arrived back in the Oasis did his vision come back.

He looked around and saw the familiar scene where he first learned about Spell Weaving. The damage from his failed runes was still present on the shoreline.

He saw his teacher appear, "Teacher!" he called out.

"Welcome back" said the man.

His Teacher's face turned a little grim, "I am guessing you are returning to talk about the ghastly aura that fell onto the city."

James nodded his head, "Yes, a Dragon gave me his task of finding the Evil."

The man knew that something triggered the Seed to activate but he never thought a Dragon would be involved. [Didn't we kill off most the Dragons back then, it should be impossible for them to have recovered?] He did not expect to hear about Dragons.

"A Dragon? Was it a true Dragon?" the man asked.

"True Dragon?" James asked, confused. He thought for a moment and remembered the book. True Dragons had the original dragon bloodline, it was the purest and thus the strongest of their kind. "It was a Flood Dragon so I don't know if that classifies as a True Dragon or not."

[Good, it was only a Flood Dragon. They shouldn't cause any real problems, such a pathetic bloodline. A mere 10% of a dragon wants to confront the Seed, ridiculous.] The man thought in disdain.

"Unfortunately a Flood Dragon is not a True Dragon. They only have 10% of the bloodline of a true dragon. It is impressive for a Flood Dragon to survive the eras. It must have been a few thousand years of age." The man continued his act.

James corrected his Teacher. "His age was not even close to that, he was barely a hundred years old."

[That is not right, we made sure to destroy all of the remaining female Dragons during the War. We even destroyed the nesting grounds so that future generations would not be able to recover.] The man continued his inner dialog. Things were not as they should have been.

"Did they say anything about their living situation. Dragons were nearly wiped out during the Era that 'They' were present." the man probed James.

"He didn't give much information about the current situation of the Dragons. All I know is that he is somewhere from the City of Dragons." said James.

"The City of Dragons? There was no such city recorded from the previous eras." the man voiced some of his thoughts. [This could be a problem. Dragons usually stay independent of one another; the only time they come together is to mate and raise their young. We might have pushed them to evolve somewhat. Dragons are manageable when they are alone... ]

"He didn't say anything about how many Dragons are in the city?" asked the man.

"He didn't give any numbers but I know that his father is alive and there are some Elder Dragons. The exact number was not talked about." James answered his question.

[I'll have to send some minions of the Seed to investigate somehow.] The man needed more information. He needed to release his kin. "Did he give you anything for when you find the Evil?"

James took out the scale and showed it to his teacher. "He gave me this."

"He gave you a scale!? He trusts you a lot. Once a dragon loses a scale it does not grow back thus it leaves a weak spot in their defenses." The man could not understand the Dragon's thought process.

The man grabbed the scale and probed it with some of his power. If he was not pretending to be a mentor he would have shown a pale face. [This scale has traces of True Dragon aura! Impossible!]

"The Dragon that his scale is from had come in contact with a True Dragon. This defies even my history books. You must investigate this further. If a True Dragon still exists it could be a problem for the world. It would be the strongest being and could cause mass destruction. Next time you meet this Dragon, ask him about True Dragons." The man made a request.

[That sounds serious. I will have to see what Olm knows.] James had a feeling that Olm would not betray him but it wouldn't hurt to ask. "Okay, I will ask him about it."

"Good." The man was pleased. [Such an easy boy to control.]

The man examined James. He was happy to see James's progress. "You have done well. The spells you created are good for your level and knowledge. Do you have any questions for me?"

"I have a spell in mind that has healing properties but it appears to be a tier 6 or 7 spell. Could you take a look at it for me?" James asked his Teacher for help.

"I certainly can." The man looked over the spell matrix. [It has decent properties. He is also right; the spell would be one of the seventh tier. Looks like it is a little too difficult for him. From what I can tell, he can make a tier 6 spell at most. Still, it is a tier higher than I first assumed.]

"You are right, it is a tier 7 spell. I wouldn't suggest pursuing this spell. It is too limiting; as a Mage you want to spend as little time standing still as possible." The man tried to persuade James.

"It is the first healing spell I found, it will be useful for me to know." James felt depressed. He also knew the spell's downfall.

"You learned the runes for healing, created a new spell but only with the good attributes." Said the man.

"I thought about that but I don't have the runic knowledge to apply the effect efficiently." For James, the game had not progressed enough for the expansion of knowledge he was looking for.

"Fear not, you will find it eventually." The man didn't want to help him too much. In reality the kind of spells James wants to make are all tier 8 or above. The difficulty would be too great unless he enters a state of enlightenment.

The man thought for a few minutes. "I tell you what, I will give you a book on writing Enchanted Books, you know them as Skill Books. You will be able to share your spells with other people. I would wisely choose who and what spells you share."

The man reached into the air in front of him and pulled a dusty book out of nowhere. "Here."

James took the book and examined it.

James learned the ability instantly. He was excited that his Class was getting more abilities. He would be able to make his friends stronger. He also thought that he would be able to sell the books to earn more money.

James bowed to his teacher, "Thank you!"

The man chuckled, "It is no problem, you have made considerable progress. I thought you would only be able to create tier 5 spells but based on what I see you would be able to make even tier 6 spells if you had the runes needed.

"Do you have any other questions or concerns? The crystals have just barely recovered so we don't have much time." The man had some things to attend to so he wanted to make this reunion short.

"Do you have any idea what the Evil would be or where to look?" asked James.

"I am able to sense the Evil but cannot pinpoint it. I do however recognize it. It is a Demonic Seed. It corrupts monsters and demonizes them. They grow in strength and are extremely aggressive. The Seed grows for every death it causes. When it is strong enough it can create real demons. Due to the City's defense formations none of the corruption, demonized monsters, and demons can appear directly in the city. They however can forcefully enter the city from the outside." That is all I can tell with my limited information.

James was grateful for the information. "Thank you!"

"I hope you can solve this dilemma. As my student I believe in you." The man praised James to boost his morale.

"Go now, you have work to do." The man wanted to rush James to leave.

"I will visit you again when I can, it was nice seeing you again." James then left the Oasis. He was teleported out and appeared in the City square.

James knew he needed to inform Alfred of the information that his Teacher provided. Before he took a single step he was teleported to a hidden room inside the city.

He appeared next to Alfred. After looking around the room he was surprised. There was a round table with all of the City's Class Instructors.

"Welcome back Blaise. Sorry about the sudden teleport but we need to learn as much as possible as fast as possible." Alfred apologized.

Taylor, the Master Earth Magic, wanted to cut to the chase. "What information did you find out?"

James was not upset at Taylor's rudeness. He understands that they are in panic and this is not their true selves. James continued to explain what his teacher told him during his time in the Oasis.

"Demons and demonized monsters?" Silica was worried. "How long will the City be safe?"

"The City should remain safe for a while. Gather up the adventures and update them on the situation. I am sure they will be safer while they leave the city." James urged.

"It is the only thing we can do." Alfred sighed. "I am sure you are busy, we will return you to the City."

James once again appeared in the City square. He waited for a few seconds before he moved. He wanted to make sure he would not be teleported again.

After he was in the clear he sent a message to his friends. He wanted to meet them in their usual Tavern.
