Chapter 5

"It's over!"

"We won!"

There were cries of joy everywhere. How many months has it been? Kael asked himself. How long has he been on the battlefield? He could not wait to see Cecilia. He wondered how big she was now. If she was still able to walk straight. He chuckled. There was no way Cecilia wouldn't be able to walk straight. Cecilia was a spitfire. He was sure she still had enough energy. He wondered if she was still annoyed with him. She had not returned any of his letters. And they were very few. Most letters got destroyed before even reaching their destination.

Kael was still so caught up in his thoughts that he did not realize that people had snuck up on him.

A man around Kael's age with red hair and red eyes. He would be more handsome if he could get the dirt off him. He jumped on Kael and laughed loudly when he noticed how shocked Kael was.

"Draco." Kael groaned in fake annoyance.

"Smile, we just won the war and it's because of you." Draco laughed.

Two other men laughed along with Draco. One had very soft features that he would be mistaken for a girl. He had blonde hair tied in a bun and two different eye colours. One blue as the sky and another as green as the grass.

The other had shaggy brown hair like Kael but was built like a brick. He had a huge weapon that looked like a hammer and he could also use a shave.

Draco released Kael who pretended to collapse on the floor from his weight.

"With the way he's behaving, one would think Percival was the one on him some seconds ago." The blonde one said with a chuckle.

"Is there any difference?" Kael groaned out.

"I take offence at that. I'm not built like this." Draco eyed Percival who gave him a smirk.

"You wish you were," Percival told Draco.

"Yeah right," Draco replied to him.

The blonde one approached Kael. He was the captain of Kael's team and everyone who saw Kael's team had wondered why they were even present in the war. They were a bunch of misfits. Draco had been the worst student in school. Percival was a prince from another country although his country had been destroyed. And their captain, Felix or her real name, Fiona was from a fallen noble family. She came into the war pretending to be her twin brother. Many people on their team had died. Draco and Percival were always at odds at the beginning and Kael was always caught up in the middle. Fiona tried to separate them but she was too soft.

However looking back to those days, it brought them closer. Everyone had their reason for participating in the war. Kael had done it for his brother and Percival, for his country. Fiona for her brother. Only their group knew Fiona was a lady though. To the others, she was a male and a respected leader.

Kael had never thought that he would be able to make friends during the war. People he would never have talked with or spoken with at the beginning. And damn, they were all brilliant. And when everyone said Kael had helped them win the war, it was because he had unlocked a new power he had no idea existed.

He was able to see ghosts. And hear voices. At first, he could not bear it. It was traumatic seeing people who had died in the war. Seeing comrades he had eaten with. Comrades he had laughed with. But now, he could cope with it. He still had no idea what had unlocked it. He had never seen it as a perk of any of the circles of magic but he was planning on learning more about it when he got back.

"You do know we have to see the king first right?" Fiona asked him.

"...yeah?" Kael asked her.

Fiona laughed. She knew Kael wanted nothing more than to go straight to the wife he had always talked about.

"Yes. We have to see the king. I'm sure you would want to see your brother right?" Fiona asked him.

While she did not trust the king because he had been the reason why her family had fallen and why her brother was bedridden, she trusted Kael. She also knew he trusted the king to a fault. At first, she had doubted that Kael would be a good asset to the war but he had proved them wrong. It was only because of Kael that they had been able to end the war so early.

"How long are we going to stay seated? Let's roll." Draco said excitedly.

"Your sister does not work in the palace," Percival told him.

"Who gives a damn? The faster we get to the palace, the faster I get to her." Draco told him.

Kael chuckled. "I'll teleport us to the capital."

Percival paused. "I thought we had to get to a gate before that?"

"Well yeah but I can do it without us getting to a gate," Kael told him.

"Can you teleport us from here to the capital?" Draco asked him, surprise written on his face.

Kael chuckled. "Why do you guys look so surprised?"

"I don't know ... maybe because no one, not even the greatest magician in our country, can teleport without getting to the gate or portal," Percival told him.

"Since when have you been able to do this?" Fiona asked him.

"Since forever? I don't know and I'm not sure. But if I've been to a place, I can teleport there without a portal or gate." Kael told him.

"I'm ready," Draco said.

"Dude, I know you want to get to your sister but you can't just expect him to teleport all of us if at all, the injured should be a priority," Percival said to Draco.

"Is there a limit to how many you can teleport?"Fiona asked Kael.

"I've never tried. I don't know but I'll teleport the injured first." Kael said to her.

Fiona gave him a nod and within minutes, they were all present in the capital.
