"Kitty! I'm so glad that you could make it." Sam ran up to Kitty.
"I managed to get my work shifts switched around. I know how important this is for you after all." Kitty walked up to her best friend. "After all, you only get to go to this fancy engagement party once in a lifetime as a commoner." She whispered to Sam.
Sam frowned, "but Kitty, you do realize that since you walked in, every guy here has been drooling over how absolutely fucking amazing you look. That dress looks exactly how I thought it would look on you. I'll introduce you to my fiancé in a bit. Until then, enjoy my engagement party, Kitty!" Sam encouragingly smiled at Kitty.
Kitty did a little spin for her friend. "Sam, you need to go and chit-chat with your fiancé. Don't worry about me. I'm so happy for you!" She gave her friend a little push and a big smile. Finally, Sam wandered back to her fiancé and left Kitty. Kitty grabbed a champagne flute a waiter offered her and sipped on the sweet, bubbly drink and looked around the party. 'Being the daughter of a huge firm really has its advantages. Sam is right though this dress she got me is smashing.' Turquoise in colour spaghetti straps a long slit up the right side, and it showed her curves perfectly. Her long silver hair was done up in a messy bun and adorned with delicate gems. She wandered over to the side of the room, away from some of the guys fawning over her looks. As confident as she was, she really hated these types of situations. Some of the guys would be brave enough to come and ask her to dance or ask to be her escort, but the worst question was always, what family are you from? She kept the air of mystery around herself and always managed to turn them away except for Robert. Her eyes were a deep-sea blue-green colour that was giving Robert a sharp look. She was starting to look rather uncomfortable.
Leo had been watching the regal beauty that came in alone and felt a desire in him that only showed up when he was hunting. He smirked and watched the interaction between Will's fiancé and this beauty. 'I want her.' He watched guys go to her and get turned down, but one guy was obviously overstepping his boundaries. Leo approached from behind. "My dear, is he bothering you?" He tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and whispered in her ear, "I'll help get rid of the pest for you." He then kissed her passionately while glaring at the pest. He ended the kiss and looked at her flushed face. "Let's go out to the terrace and get some fresh air, my love." He guided her to the terrace and didn't glance back.
Kitty was so shocked her reaction was slow when he kissed her. She felt his tongue enter her mouth, but this was definitely better than dealing with Robert. Kitty looked at the stranger. He was clean-shaven, his eyes were the colour of sapphires, black hair was slicked back, and she could feel his muscles through the suit he was wearing. She let him lead her out to the terrace. Once outside and safe from prying eyes and ears did she finally speak. "Thank you for your help. My name is Katherine, but everyone calls me Kitty. Why did you help me?" Her cheeks still flushed as she was still trying to calm her racing heartbeat.
"You looked like you were in despair, and since no one seemed like they wanted to help you, I chose to help you, Kitty. That guy is a pest at all the events I attend and hits on any female he sees. You've turned down so many men, and that is a bit of a surprise." He leaned down and whispered into her ear. "Shall I continue to be your partner for the rest of the evening? I can keep all the pests away from you?" He brought his hand to her shoulder and ran his fingers down her back, and wrapped his arm protectively around her waist. Still whispering in her ear, Leo said, "My name is Leo."
She shivered at his touch. 'He feels safe. Maybe I can trust him at least for this evening.' She eased herself into his embrace. "Leo, I will leave myself in your care." She turned her head and gave him a light kiss on the cheek and then whispered in his ear, "Thank you, Leo. We should head back in and act like a couple."
Leo leads her back inside and then offered his hand and asked for this dance. "May I have this dance, my dear?"
"Yes, thank you, Leo." She put her hand in his, and they waltzed perfectly together. For their first time dancing together, it was like they were made for each other. The elegance of the movements had a lot of onlookers watching. Kitty saw Sam smiling from the corner of her eye, and her eyes were shining with happiness for her friend. The dance ended, and Leo starting leading Kitty to Sam and her fiancé.
He had his arm around her waist protectively. "We should greet the hosts together." He said and smiled at her. "Will, it was so wonderful for you to invite us here tonight to celebrate your engagement to Sam."
"Leo, my pal. I'm so glad you could make it. I see you have a companion. Can we expect to see more of her with you in the future?" Will winks and nudges Leo.
Sam smiles and looks over at you. " I'm so sorry that I couldn't help you with Robert. Leo, thank you for helping Kitty." Her eyes are gleaming, and looking hopeful.
"Don't even go there, Sam. This is a night about you and your fiancé Will. Leo was gracious enough to help me out. Please don't let the other guys hear that, though. Then they'll know it's not real." Kitty smiled. "Congratulations to the both of you. I wish for you both a long life of happiness together." Kitty smiled and looked at the happy couple.
