~5 months later~
Almost 5 months have passed since I killed Victoria and James. The month of September has come and it has brought along with it the season of autumn. The leaves on trees are gradually turning orange while the already cold temperature in Forks has dropped even lower. Another event that has arrived in September is the 18th birthday of me and Bella. Currently I'm sitting high atop the branch of a tree with Rosalie sitting in front of me, leaning against my chest.
'' What do you want for your birthday ? " She asks looking up at me.
In return I just smile, tightening my hold on her as I say, " I've got you. I don't need anything else. "
" Hmm... You're right. You are very lucky to have me. "
" No..you see this is the point where you are supposed to be humble and say that you are also very lucky to have me. "
She smiled at me amusedly and said, " Nope. Don't feel like being humble today. "
I returned her smile and said, " I've been a bad influence on you Ms. Hale. "
" I will neither accept nor deny the credibility of that statement. "
I just chuckled and kissed her head. " Did you get anything for Bella ? "
" Why would I waste my time and brain cells thinking about something so pointless when I have much better things to do ? Spending time with you for example. " She said but there was no venom in her voice.
I just chuckled and said, " You know she is going to be your sister-in-law one day right ? You'll have to get along with her. "
" I'm pretty sure that some in-laws aren't the best of friends. " She said giving me a pointed look.
" I'm not saying you have to be best friends with her but the least you could do is tolerate her. Please ? For me ? " I said giving her my puppy dog look.
She looked at me and her mouth twitched in half-exasperation, half-amusement. Finally she sighed and said, " Fiiine. I will TRY to tolerate her. "
I just smile at her antics but it soon drops as I think about what I'm about to say next.
" Hey, Rose I will have to leave for a few days. "
Rosalie's head snaps in my direction as she asks, " What ? Why ?! "
" Well, when I was fighting (slaughtering) Victoria and James I scanned both of their minds and what I discovered was rather unsettling. "
" Remember how Alice told us that she was being chased by a vampire when she was a human and that it's the only thing she remembers from her past ? Well, turns out that James was the vampire that was chasing her."
" I think I've found Alice's birthplace."
Hearing this Rose broke out into a huge smile. " That's amazing ! Alice will be so happy to hear this."
" I know. And that's why me and Alice have to leave Forks for a couple of days. Alice deserves some closure. "
" I agree with you but why do you have to go ? And if you do why can't I come with you ? " She asked looking into my eyes.
I sighed. I hated lying to her but it must be done. Bella's fate was to become a vampire. I could change the future but I can't change a fate that big. If Bella doesn't become a vampire than her only other fate is to die. I can delay it for a while but it's inevitable. As the protagonist of this world Bella's fate is to strong for me to change currently. There are three defining conditions that have to be met for Bella to successfully become a vampire. One of them is discovering that Edward is a vampire and another one is for her to meet the Volturi. Thinking about this I said to Rosalie,
" It's imperative for me to go and it's also important that Alice and I go alone. I can't explain the reasons currently, you just have to trust me on this. "
Rosalie frowned for a bit before sighing deeply and cupping my cheeks, resting her forehead on mine. " Okay. I trust you, I just don't like being separated from you. "
" Trust me love, it pains me just as much, but don't worry I will be back within a week. "
" Mm-hmm "
I stroked her cheeks lovingly and kissed her.
" I love you."
" I love you."
" Always "
" And forever "
" Now let's go tell the rest of your family. "
