Chapitre 1: PROLOGUE.

"I hate to brag, but I think this book is going to be a real jeer," Rick muttered with confidence as he hit the upload button on his laptop screen after five long hours of writing three chapters of five thousand words.

He had taken a day off from his part-time job to be able to write these chapters, so he was very happy that he had finally achieved his goal for today.

...

Rick was an orphaned undergraduate who had lost his parents in a casual train wreck at a very young.

His grandparents, the only relatives he had left, also died shortly after his parent's deaths, leaving him alone in this world.

Rick was left with absolutely nothing after his entire family died.

His parents were not very rich, so he did not have much money to inherit or any concrete wealth to brag about.

The only thing his parents had left him was the house in which they lived, but exactly two days after their death, their debtors came and seized the whole building.

This incident rendered him homeless for the time being until a miracle happened.

At that time, a new government came to power and offered to pay for the living expenses of over one million orphans in the country. The donation was to last for the next ten years.

Fortunately, Rick happened to be one of those orphans.

With the government's help, his life changed for the better.

The government took care of his living expenses, including his education and nutrition.

Shelter wasn't overlooked either. The government provided a home for each stray orphan. The orphans were given 10 by 10-meter apartments.

The government also provided them with everything they needed to live, such as beds, health insurance, and more.

Rick, who had been sad after he lost his family, became happy again after the government did all these things for him.

Although it did not completely erase the pain and trauma he felt after losing his family, it sure gave him a lot of hope for a better future.

Rick thought his life had turned around and his grief was over, but that was just the beginning, as he did not know.

When he started attending the school that the government provided him, he faced another hell of torment; bullying.

As a result, Rick nearly suffered a nervous breakdown. Not a day went by in school that he was not bullied. He was always the target of the rich, big kids in his class.

He had nothing to fight back with. His parents were gone and he had to rely on the government's donations, so he basically had nothing to get out of his current situation.

At first, he had reported the bullies to the school board, thinking that the matter would be resolved, but after reporting them a couple of times and seeing that the school board did nothing, he stopped reporting.

Not only that, but each time he reported, the bullies took revenge and further tormented him, so he stopped reporting.

It was better this way than being additionally tormented every time he reported.

That was Rick's life for the next ten years.

In his final year of high school, he was diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Fortunately for him, the state health insurance covered the cost of his treatment.

But the following year, that was no longer the case. He had to work hard to raise money to support himself and continue taking his weekly medication

At the same time, he had also graduated from high school. Now he was to enroll in a university.

Life after high school was absolutely overwhelming for Rick.

Reality hit him hard when the government's assistance stopped coming.

He had to work several hours a day to raise the money to endorse himself and enroll in a university.

He was not that bright or he would have applied for a scholarship.

Rick had a very difficult time coping with school and his illness.

Depression set in because of the stress and the long hours he had to work every day to survive.

Grief over the death of his parents compounded his depression.

Rick managed to get through his first year of university, but the depression worsened in his second year.

Because of depression, he almost quit his job, but since it was his only source of income, he decided to keep going until he couldn't take it anymore.

He had no money or he would have sought the help of a therapist, so he had to deal with it himself.

At some point, he started reading web novels. He spent most of his free time reading web novels, and since then his depression had decreased drastically.

He spent so much time reading that he had read thousands of books in just a few months.

"Isn't it high time I wrote my own book? I have read a few books to get enough experience, so I am pretty sure I can do it."

This idea occurred to him one day when he was reading a fantasy novel that intrigued him beyond belief.

From that day on, he pursued the goal of writing his own book, and so he wrote his first draft. He named his book 'Online in my own world'

He was inspired by a novel he read that had a very terrible ending.

The MC in this novel had died trying to save the whole world, and this annoyed him so much that he decided to write his own story and rectify such a useless ending.

However, writing wasn't as easy as he had first presumed. The comments he got from readers devastated him.

Most readers advised him to stop writing and concentrate on other things for he wasn't talented enough to write.

He tried to figure out what was wrong with his writing, but after spending some time on it, he found absolutely nothing.

Nothing he'd say was wrong with his writing.

To him, his book was just as good as other writers', so why the bad comments from readers about his book?

However, when those comments didn't stop coming, he decided to take a break from writing for a while and work on himself before starting again.

He almost lost his part-time job when he got busy reading web novels to improve his writing.

About a month later, he started writing again. This time he published his second book and was confident that he had improved after the long break.

...

Rick leaned back on the sofa after he published the chapters.

His eyes were transfixed on the screen of his laptop as he waited in earnest for readers' comments.

He waited and waited, but no comment came. An hour passed, but still, there was not a single comment.

As he continued to wait, he unconsciously fell asleep.

The next he woke up, three hours had passed.

"Damn! I dozed off," Rick muttered under his breath as he rushed to his laptop to see if there were any comments.

The moment he opened his inbox, however, he was greeted by the first heartbreaking comment of the day.

He never thought he would get another comment like that. Not after he had trained for a whole month.

AuthorGuilt…"Well, I don't expect much from this author, his first draft was a total mess. Dropped!" A reader commented and that was the end.

Rick opened his mouth to speak but no word came out.

This wasn't the only comment there, there were numbers of them below.

Shadowreader…"Dropped! Your terrible writing has deteriorated. The first book wasn't good either, but this is the worst." Another reader remarked.

IHateHarems…"Dropped."

Daiost32...."Thanks for the chapter!"

RugbyTee…"I wasted my time reading this trash in the first place. Dropped!"

The last comment infuriated him deeply.

How could anyone call someone else's hard work and sweat, trash? That was cruel!

"F**k you all, I am not going to stop writing!" Rick exclaimed angrily as he closed the lid of his laptop and threw it into the corner of the room.

However, the moment his laptop shattered across the room, a sharp pain shot through his heart.

The pain wasn't like the one he naturally feels when his blood pressure rises. The pain was much sharper and more intense. It was so severe that he could barely breathe.

Rick collapsed on the floor, gasping for air as his heart was already slowing its palpitation.

This outburst must have caused his blood pressure to spike dramatically.

"Is this how my shitty life ends...how funny!" He muttered as a bitter smile played on his face.

[ Your former life was a definition of miserable ]

[ Welcome to a new world of magic ]

A green screen materialized before Rick's heavy eyes that were hardly still open.

"What is this?" Rick whispered in an incomprehensibly weak voice before he passed out.
