Chapitre 12: The Sudden Introduction

As Aoife walked out of the confessionals, he quickly noticed that the number of figures in the field had multiplied, another person appearing. This was, of course, Bridgette; she must've got back from her trial some time when Aoife was in the confessionals.

Aoife gave her a smile, he could tell from the change in her facial expression that whatever her third trial was had had a big impact on her.

Deciding to give her some space to sort out her thoughts, Aoife went back to his usual exercises.

Just then, the loud siren started blaring, signifying that everyone had completed their third challenge. Aoife looked over, he began to head in that direction, Bridgette and Izzy not far behind.

Reaching the clearing, they noticed they actually weren't the last to arrive this time.

It was at this point that the confessional doors opened, out stepping Gwen, who had a rather weathered look on her face. Clearly, whatever she had gone through during her third trial had truly affected her; Aoife gave her a look, his eyes containing a trace of pity that soon disappeared, he realized that she was the only one who could possibly help herself with whatever she was going through; no amount of kind words would do the trick.

She walked into the group, bags under her eyes.

Chris seemed to not even notice, his expression carrying the same smile it always did, "So! The Screaming Gophers are the winners of this challenge. Again!" Aoife could hear the agitation that was slowly building up in Chris.

This announcement didn't cause cheering to erupt as it usually would, as everybody just sat in silence, as if deep in thought.

"But!" This singular word from Chris seemed to draw glares from all directions, the two teams already tired of his antics.

Still, Chris carried on as if the glares of 22 righteously angry individuals weren't aimed at him, "That isn't why I've called you here today. You see, there was this system I planned to introduce later into the show, but the actions of some people have necessitated its early introduction!" Here, Chris paused, sending a glare toward Aoife, Izzy and Bridgette.

All he received in return was a flat stare.

Shaking off the anger that suddenly spiked within him, Chris continued, "I will be choosing to send three of you to a separate island, one in which you'll be forced to survive on your own. But, to ensure that these players are not taken advantage of while away, they cannot be voted out! They will have to survive on the island for a week with no help from others, and if they leave the island, they will automatically be eliminated."

His statement seemed to awaken the crowd from their own thoughts, the two groups stirring to life. He continued on, "Typically, these people would be selected via volunteering; however, I've decided who I'll select this time." Chris said, causing the groups to scowl with visible annoyance.

"The ones going to the island are, Aoife, Izzy, and Bridgette!"

His words caused a stir in the two teams, understanding the reason why they were selected was their outstanding performance so far. Clearly, Chris wished for the next competitions to be more challenging for both teams, instead of one having an unfair advantage.

The three who had been named had no visible reaction; having heard Chris' words, the three had assumed they would be the ones selected from the start.

"So! You three, head back to your living quarters and prepare your items you plan to take with you."

"There's no need." Aoife responded indifferently, clearly having little care for Chris' face.

But, Chris just shrugged his shoulder's in response, thinking that if they didn't want to take anything with them, it would be their own funeral. So, with a big smile appearing on his face that made all the campers want to smack him, Chris led the group of three to the docks, where they boarded a boat and headed off.

~~

Chris turned back to the group after watching the boat head off, a smile blooming on his face.

He felt relieved with those three gone, maybe the competitions would be more competitive from now on.

"Seeing as you've all just got back from your third competition, you'll have a break for a day before you'll move on to the next one."

Chris' words solicited groans of both annoyance and relief, while the two teams were happy for a break, they didn't feel that a single day was enough. Still, not wishing to waste anytime, the two teams headed off, hoping to relax as much as possible in the allotted time-frame.

~~Cameron POV~~

Cameron watched on as Aoife answered the questions on the screen, his eyes shining at their difficulty.

As he looked down at his phone, he watched as the forums blew up at the severely increased intensity of the contestants third challenge. Still, he was surprised at how few people were talking about Aoife or even Bridgette's insane questions, instead all focusing on Izzy.

Sure, her challenge was an insane one, one Cameron freely admitted was impossible for him to complete. But, as someone who prided himself on his intelligence, Cameron had to admit that the questions Bridgette and Aoife had to solve were ones that would even be hard for him.

Truthfully, he found the tasks of the two of them to be far more impressive than Izzy's feat, seeing as Izzy had already shown her talent in physical activity; meanwhile, the other two were showing just how mentally impressive they were for the first time.

With a sigh of frustration, Cameron tapped to open a comment thread, his fingers getting to work typing on the keyboard.

~~Zoey POV~~

Zoey stared down at her phone, the Total Drama Forum on it. She was currently checking the comments religiously, waiting for somebody to talk about the insane questioning Aoife was currently completing.

She slid her hand upward, refreshing the page, and just as she did, a new thread appeared; it was one talking about Aoife!

Zoey's eyes zoned in on it, clicking on the thread to enlarge it, she began to read the near essay of a post.

The more she read, the more impressed Zoey became; not only of whoever had started the thread, but also in Aoife and Bridgette. While Zoey had felt that the trials of both Bridgette and Aoife had been far more complicated than the reactions suggested, this post seemed to truly bring to light just how impressive a feat it truly was.

The post thoroughly explained who the group of people grading Aoife's test were, their profession, as well as how impressive of an accomplishment getting a perfect score was.

But what truly surprised Zoey, was learning how great an action Bridgette had performed; while she had previously felt that Bridgette's performance was admirable, she hadn't been able to comprehend why.

Learning that the man who was testing her was a legend among soldiers, someone who was viewed as a near god of tacticians, Zoey came to understand that Bridgette managing to accomplish a score of 22 out of 25 was, and to manage to obtain the man's approval made her actions even more admirable.

The more she read on, the more Zoey came to understand how amazing the two's accomplishments truly were.

As Zoey read on, the post started to gain more and more attraction, eventually reaching the top of the forum alongside the explanation for how impressive Izzy's accomplishments were.

People began to feel admiration for the three, especially toward Aoife, who had somehow managed to surround himself with such exceptional people, while still seeming just as bright of a star as before.

They began wondering if Aoife had known about the two's amazing skills beforehand, or if they could add supernatural luck to his increasing list of skills.

If Aoife were to be there, he would be amused at the response of the people. Some viewing him as superhuman in nature, while others viewed him as if he were favored by the gods themselves.

Still, Aoife knew the truth; while it wasn't true to say he had just lucked into his encounters with the two girls, it would also be untrue to say that he had truly known how talented they were beforehand. Ironically, the truth was somewhere in the middle of the two warring sides.
