Elvira removed her bloodstained clothes and stepped into a bronze bathtub. The water was precisely the right temperature. When used on trivial things, magic always produces perfection. She sat on the bottom and looked at her legs in horror. There was still a sheer red imprint of the blood. She picked up a loofah and began scrubbing with vigor.

The stains were gone, but not the recollections of the event that had just taken place. Elvira dropped the loofah and buried her face in her palms.

She had just returned from the ritual of power transfer performed by Itar. He had successfully transferred the power from Dominique to Serena and her; Elvira absorbed seventy percent and Serena thirty percent of it. Though Elvira didn't feel any different, Serena wasn't feeling that well. According to Itar, she needed rest to adjust to the new energy. He said that her body had reacted to it better than most of its past carriers.
