Chapitre 48: Chapter 47: Toneri vs Amazo
"You stupid little brats!" Ivo spat angrily and pushed a button on the pen in his pocket. "Amazo, Priority Omega, merge point supreme."
Toneri and the team watched in alarm as Amazo's body began to twitch uncontrollably. The lines across its body started to fade, and several MONQIs flew close, merging with it. The android's head reformed, and its body took on some of the green and black colors of the MONQIs, resulting in a sleek, more menacing appearance.
"What is that? What did you do?" Toneri demanded.
Professor Ivo laughed maniacally. "That's the perfect form of my amazing Amazo. Now it will eliminate you brats!"
"Access: Merge Point Superman, Martian Manhunter, Red Tornado, Black Canary, Captain Atom, Flash," the android intoned.
After a moment of silence it moved with impressive speed, everything around it slowing down. Suddenly, its fist appeared inches from Robin's face.
BOOOOOM!
A shockwave erupted, and as the smoke cleared, Toneri was there, blocking the fist with his palm as his hand trembled due to the immense strength of the android while still holding Ivo in his other hand. The floor beneath him shattered and caved in from the immense strength of the android. Robin, sweating profusely, realized he could have been dead if not for Toneri's intervention.
'That… that could've been me…' Robin thought in shock.
'Unbelievable speed…' Kid Flash thought, wide-eyed.
'Toneri saved him just in time…' Miss Martian realized.
Toneri threw Ivo at Aqualad before thinking, 'That speed, that strength… it wasn't that powerful before. If my guess is correct, it really did merged the League's powers into one.'
The android suddenly opened its palm, causing Toneri's eyes to widen. A nuclear beam shot out, creating a miniature explosion that pushed the team aside to different corners. Superboy was the first to get up, shouting, "Lunaris!"
Wally got up next, saying, "Shit, what just happened?"
Robin, still shaking from the close call, said, "It seems it's merged all of the League's powers and can now use them freely without having to access them one by one."
Miss Martian moved close to Superboy while looking at the android. "So we are fighting the entire League in one now?"
"Unfortunately, it would seem like it," Aqualad replied. "But is Lunaris alright? He was caught in the explosion just now."
As the smoke cleared, revealing the burnt marks and damaged gym, Toneri's form emerged. His arms were crossed in an X-shape in front of him, his clothes ruffled but surprisingly not a single scratch on his body.
Toneri moved backward, creating some distance between himself and the android, thinking, 'It's definitely more powerful now.' He looked at the team and said, "Get Professor Ivo and get outside now. This is about to get a lot more dangerous."
The team was about to follow his instructions, and Wally, now with Ivo, was about to say something when the android suddenly moved again, trying to punch him. Wally barely noticed the android's movement and attempted to move out of the way, but he wasn't fast enough. The fist descended on him.
Toneri quickly made a hand sign, his five fingers suddenly alight with dark red flames. He slammed his hand on the ground, calling out, "Kaenjin (Flame Formation)!"
A red barrier, seemingly made of ominous flames, sprang up, separating the entire team from the android and encasing them in a protective barrier. The android's fist landed with a loud boom on the barrier, causing the floor to cave in, but the barrier held up.
The android then turned its gaze behind it and narrowed its eyes at Toneri, as if recognizing that it had to eliminate this variable to reach its objective.
Toneri looked at the team behind the barrier, his expression calm but serious. "Stay right there. You're all tired from the fight with Amazo. Don't worry, I'll handle it from here."
Behind the barrier, Superboy watched the android anxiously. "Are we really going to leave him alone with that thing?"
"We'll just have to believe in Lunaris," Aqualad said firmly. Having witnessed Lunaris' powers against the typhoon monster months ago, he was confident in his abilities. The rest of the team looked at Aqualad, then turned their gaze to Lunaris.
Toneri got into a fighting stance, a small smile playing on his lips. "Well then, come. Let's have a taste, shall we?"
The android moved with super speed, intending to punch Toneri's head off faster than he could react. As its fist came inches from hitting Toneri, he bent backward, letting the fist sail over him with such force that he felt the wind generated by the punch brush against his face. This exposed the android's upper body. Toneri lashed out with a kick to its chest, causing a wind shockwave that launched the android into the roof. In a flash, Toneri shunshined behind the android, using chakra to strengthen his leg before drop-kicking it back down to the floor, creating a crater.
All this happened within seconds. Superboy watched in awe. "Amazing."
"Holy shit, that was fast," Wally added.
Toneri, now floating in the air with his byakugan activated, suddenly moved out of the way as a beam of nuclear energy shot past him, through the ceiling, creating a hole. Amazo cleared the dust from his impact with a tornado. The android then moved to engage Toneri in battle, using Dinah's martial arts. They traded blows, with Toneri avoiding most hits while landing some on the android's body before backhanding it away with a powerful fist.
"Isn't that Black Canary's fighting style?" Miss Martian asked, her eyes wide with surprise.
"Yeah," Robin confirmed. "It's using her battle style in perfect mix with the rest of the League's powers."
Amazo suddenly opened its mouth to use the Canary Cry. Toneri backflipped, making hand signs for a jutsu. "Doton: Doryūheki (Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall)," he called out. An earth wall rose from the floor in front of Toneri, and the cry crashed into it. Toneri jumped up, holding another hand sign. 'Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu (Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique),' he thought, spitting a massive fireball at the android.
Amazo saw the fireball and tried to use a tornado to snuff out the oxygen from the flame. Toneri smirked. 'Katsu!' The fireball exploded, catching the android in the blast and destroying a section of the gym wall, exposing them to the outside.
"Wow, he's strong," Miss Martian said, impressed.
Robin looked at her and nodded. "Oh yeah, you've never seen him fight, have you? Although the League still doesn't know his full capabilities, we do know he's at Superman's level."
Superboy, although surprised as well, just grunted. He remembered his fight with Lunaris' clone and how he was told it would be a different story if it was the real him he fought that day.
Toneri watched the android get up and walk through the smoke, ready for the next round.
