Chapitre 58: Bittersweet encounter

Shortly after, Misaki said goodbye to Kanaru and she left.

The frog-faced doctor stared at her for a moment, then he returned his focus to Kanaru.

"You two..." He stopped when he saw Kanaru get a bit uncomfortable.

" You slept too much, as always and… a lot of time has passed. I'm sorry for everything that happened to you." The doctor said sadly.

Kanaru shook his head.

"Have you heard? Don't worry about it, all that happened because of my own credulity." Kanaru said with a wry smile.

"I recently found out about this project. In theory, to complete this project it is necessary for the subject to be able to repair their cells as quickly as when they are destroyed, that is, a high-level recovery ability. Your ability Recovery was only level 1 the last time we met, so to level it up in such a short time…" The doctor's tone grew sad. He continued speaking.

"I'll see to it that those responsible don't get away with this."

Kanaru didn't react.

"Forget it. I'll take care of that." Kanaru said with a dark expression.

Kanaru suddenly remembered something.

"Did you do what I asked?" He asked.

The doctor nodded.

"I did it. I'm in charge of their recovery from all of their excess growth meds and also helping them find a better future. Most of them are now out of town and furthermore…" The doctor explained the situation of Misaka's clones in detail.

Kanaru breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank you." Kanaru said with a smile.

Kanaru walked towards the door.

"Wait, this conversation is not over." The doctor said with a serious face.

"Why did you do that to Accelerator?" He asked.

Kanaru paused for a moment and looked at him with an indifferent expression.

"If it was up to me, I'd have preferred that rubbish had died, but someone stopped me. But… I only promised not to kill him. " Kanaru said.

"Someone?" The doctor was confused.

For some reason he knew many details of that battle and among those details was that there were only 2 people in that battle zone: Kanaru and Accelerator.

"It's complicated." Kanaru said with an ambiguous expression.

"You really have changed." The doctor said with a deep sigh.

"That's it? Make no mistake, I'm happy to see you after all these years, but that's it. Don't forget that you lied to me about Karui's mental diagnosis." Kanaru said with a cold tone.

Heaven Canceller was Kanaru's role model, but stopped being one when Karui died. The only reason he was glad to see him was because after all he was in the past like part of his family.

"My diagnosis was correct. It was impossible for her to commit suicide." The doctor said with a sad expression.

Kanaru opened the door.

"In a few days I'll give you a gift, I think your parents would have wanted that. It'll come to you by mail." The doctor said before Kanaru closed the door.

Kanaru became melancholy when he remembered all his moments with that doctor. Thanks to him Kanaru is in Academy City after the death of his parents and obtained his knowledge of medicine. Maybe if it weren't for that knowledge he would have died when he fought Lyn.

'He didn't mention my murders. Apparently, he is neither for nor against that, what a strange doctor' Kanaru thought after reflecting a bit.

He sighed and walked away from the place.

He just wanted to walk to clear his mind.

But to his surprise, he came across a particular scene after walking around the hospital for a bit.

He saw how a young man with white hair and red eyes was frowning at a little girl who was surrounding him with a big smile.

The white-haired young man had a choker around his neck, apparently it was something similar to an electrode. He too wore a white shirt with some black patterns and dark blue pants. He was also using a crutch of a peculiar style.

The little girl was the first to notice him and she started running towards him.
