Sherry and Jack's thoughts submerged into the man's reminiscences as he spoke.
"After obtaining my doctorate from Kyoto University in China in 1997, I went to work for the international pharmaceutical company Umbrella Corporation. I passed the interview and was assigned to work at the Raccoon City Arklay Research Institute. There, I met two outstanding scientists, Albert Wesker and William Birkin, and we became good friends."
"After working at the institute for a while, I discovered that Umbrella was ostensibly a pharmaceutical enterprise, but behind the scenes, they were still researching a terrifying biohazard virus. Researchers called it the T-Virus, which could kill a human within just ten minutes and turn them into a zombie craving flesh."
"They were also studying B.O.W. bioweapons, creating Tyrants and Lickers through the T-Virus, conducting various war activities, and collecting combat data on B.O.W.s."
"Umbrella's ethos was diametrically opposed to my own, and I could not bear their inhumane experiments. With Wesker and William's help, I found an opportunity and escaped from the institute."
"I returned to my country and set to work on medical technology that could eliminate all viruses."
"Fortunately, after eight long years of research, I succeeded, which is why I still look so young. I created nanobots that can eliminate viruses in the human body and repair damaged and aging cells."
"When I was overjoyed and ready to find William and Wesker again with my scientific achievements, I found out that it was already too late."
Hearing this, Jack felt deeply perplexed. He had only learned of his father after being captured by Carla and brought to this research facility, but he had never seen his father, not even once.
Reminiscing about the darkness of his childhood, he clenched his fists until his fingertips turned white:
"Where is Wesker now? He abandoned me and my mother, leaving us to face a life of suffering and misfortune alone."
After venting, Jack looked again at the mysterious man. The man sighed, and in his next words, Jack got the answers he wanted.
"The rest, as you know, is that the T-Virus leaked, Raccoon City fell, and in the end, it was destroyed by a nuclear missile launched by the government."
"The Arklay Research Institute was obliterated, and based on the clues I obtained, I secretly investigated the past and finally uncovered the whole truth."
"They're all gone now."
With that, Qin Ming sighed again, his voice filled with a faint loss and sorrow.
"Your father sought to destroy the world with the virus and was eliminated by BSAA's Chris."
"Sherry's father, William, after injecting himself with the G-Virus and turning into a bio-organic monster, was also eliminated by Chris."
"My two friends both died because of the virus."
At that moment, both saw a glint of a tear in the man's eye.
"Knowing they were dead, I was engulfed in sadness, but when I realized they had offspring, I began to search."
"That's why I came here to rescue you."
This revelation overwhelmed Jack, and his gun hand dropped helplessly. His brain went blank, and Sherry, too, was reminded of her past. Her heart squeezed tight as she covered her face, struggling to hold back tears.
It took what felt like an eternity for Jack to come to terms with this reality.
"So you are?"
"Yes, children, I am your fathers' close friend, Dr. Qin."
"In my eyes, both of you are like my own kin."
In that moment, Qin Ming seemed like a kindly elder. Jack and Sherry felt his caring and gentle gaze, stirring a certain emotion in their hearts.
Is this what family love is like?
Especially for Sherry, who had been saved from Raccoon City only to be imprisoned in a research facility by curious government officials and scientists because of the G-virus in her body.
She lived through eleven years of restricted freedom under the government's watch, gaining her liberty only a few years ago when, in an unprecedented move, the United States government employed her as a special agent. Desperate to escape her life of confinement, she had accepted the job.
Sherry had always longed for family, but she knew all too well that all her kin, including her parents, were gone with the destruction of Raccoon City, leaving her alone in the world.
Sherry felt more joy than sorrow.
So there was still an uncle who cared about her.
Jack felt some emotion at his father's death, but having never met him, it didn't cut too deeply, and he quickly recovered from his sadness.
The two looked at the youth before them, who was much younger than themselves, and after hesitating for a few seconds, they simultaneously revealed a look of respect and gratitude, speaking in unison:
"Uncle."
"Kids." Qin Ming nodded with satisfaction.
Finally, he had successfully bluffed them; all his made-up stories hadn't been in vain.
"Uncle, thank you for saving me and Jack, but we still have a mission to do. I need to go to the rendezvous point agreed with my boss."
"I know, but your boss Simmons is not a good man, and it will be a dangerous journey,"
"I will make weapons for you."
"You know Simmons?" Sherry asked, surprised.
"Weapons?" Jack's attention was caught by this statement.
"Yes, kids, don't underestimate a scientist who has lived for fifty years."
Having said that, Qin Ming straightened his back and let a proud smile cross his lips, perfectly embodying an old scientist.
"Kids, go change your clothes first."
"Two hours later, come to the underground garage to find me."
Jack and Sherry looked at each other, wide-eyed and clueless after Dr. Qin walked away with an air of mystery. Only then did they notice the state of their clothes.
A blush crept over Sherry's face as she hurriedly covered her exposed skin.
"Don't look!"
"Who wants to look!"
Jack's gaze turned to the chunks of flesh on the ground, from which he picked up a blood-stained pack of cigarettes and a lighter. Without disgust, he pulled out a cigarette, placed it in his mouth, lit it, and blew a ring of smoke.
No matter whether what this Dr. Qin said was true or not, they had no choice but to trust him for now.
Suppressing his doubts, Jack approached Sherry, "Let's go change our clothes, then get the weapons uncle has prepared for us and continue with your mission!"
"Cough, cough."
Sherry followed behind Jack, coughing and waving her hand in front of her face to shoo away the smoke from her blue eyes.
Even though they were mentally prepared, they were still shocked. The corridor and the rooms, even the elevator, were littered with the mutilated remains of mutants – a sight that could only be the work of Dr. Qin. This suddenly-appeared uncle gained an even more mysterious image in their hearts.
...
The weapon storage of the New Umbrella Research Institute was located on the sixth floor of the building.
Qin Ming took the elevator to the sixth floor, walked a few steps forward, and stopped in front of the iron door leading to the weapon storage.
With a thought, telekinesis opened the heavy iron door from inside. Accompanied by the sound of the door's airtight seal breaking, it slowly swung open to reveal a long corridor.
As Qin Ming stepped in, each step he took lit up the lights on the corridor walls until he reached the end and the entire room's lights came on.
It was a huge space, over five meters high and approximately thirty meters in length and width. In the thousand-square-meter weapon storage, an array of weapons was stacked, ranging from a small dagger to artillery shells, with bullets of various calibers and an assortment of guns filling the entire space.
Qin Ming even spotted two Gatling Fire God guns; the equipment and ammunition there were enough to wage a small-scale battle.
High-strength steel was sliced through like tofu when faced with nanowires, and countless usable materials from the building were transported by Qin Ming's telekinesis.
Micron-level psychokinesis and nanowires were the best tools for processing.
He was going to create machinery for his beloved niece and nephew to fight against the Tyrant.
In the original storyline, the two were about to face the relentless pursuit of the C-virus pursuer. He wanted to see if the technology he now possessed could grant ordinary people the ability to fight against this three-meter-tall humanoid boss.
If feasible, that would be another bargaining chip on the negotiation table with the Anti-Bioterrorism Organization BSAA and the United Nations.
