I needed to see Melissa. I wanted to know what Abel saw in her that he did not see in me.

I had good looks and I was strong. Besides, it turned out Melissa was an evil wench.

"What are you doing?" I turned hearing the voice. My whole family was sneaky. You never knew when someone was following you. Even my Mum, a human dark mage, could walk so quietly that even werewolves could not detect her.

"Mum! What are you doing here?"

"I should be the one to ask you that, Briana," Mum said. Mum only called me by that name when she was angry. Mum was rarely angry with us. So, it was serious.

"I was… I was going to see Melissa."

"Why?" she asked, crossing her arms. Mum was wearing a black dress with deep neckline. She had stopped aging at a prime moment. She looked gorgeous. I truly hoped I would stop aging at that age as well.

"Because… I was curious."

"Don't lie."
