Lavinia watched Casey as the pair wove through the mall. Casey, carrying an umbrella and wearing one of Lavinia’s coats, stopped to survey the possible destinations.
Lavinia had been following her around for the better part of the day, not night, the mall was closed at night.
Lavinia was tired and had to bundle up to avoid the sun but a long, dark coat, a sun hat, sunglasses, and gloves did the trick nicely. And Casey helped by shielding her with an umbrella. Aside from that, Lavinia had deigned to wear dark pants and a more casual outfit in general.
“What’s next, Casey?” Lavinia caught up to where the girl was standing.
“Well,” Casey pulled a list from her pocket, “now that we’ve dropped off the blankets and the other stuff for my room,” Casey was the one to take them to the car since Lavinia wouldn’t risk being in the sun any more than they needed to, “I think there’s…um…”
She handed the list to Lavinia. “Personal items.”
