A sudden push from Anastasia made them look at each other, both catching their breath.

"Why?" Daniel's voice trembled, his heart racing as he fought to contain his emotions.

Anastasia shook her head, a frown deepening on her brow. She turned to walk away, leaving Daniel in a whirlwind of confusion.

"What is it? Did I do something wrong?" Daniel gently grasped her hand, not ready to let her go.

"Everything is wrong…" She muttered under her breath, frustration bubbling inside her. "This is wrong, Daniel!" She breathed heavily, guilt weighing on her. "Mom has just passed away, and I…" She faltered, unable to believe what had just crossed her mind. The warmth from the kiss lingered on her lips, blurring her thoughts and drawing her deeper into a storm of conflicting feelings.
