Eleonore’s POV

I was fast enough to catch the attack the demon had thrown at me.

I was fast enough to move and get out of its grip as long, taloned fingers scraped towards me. But I wasn’t fast enough to dodge the attack entirely. Its sharp claws scratched at my collarbone and I cried out as the blood dripped to the ground.

“You’re not getting out of here, little girl!” The demon rushed forward, and I ran as fast as I could. “Not again! I will complete my mission! I will end this quest of mine!”

I could hear my heartbeat in my ears, thrumming through every inch of my skin until the vibrations were all that I could feel and touch and taste and smell. Just then the younger version of myself appeared in front of me, a wicked grin stretched across her young face before she reached out to me, but I was quicker and my hands shot out to hold her face.
