Chapitre 31: Heading toward Desert City
Boom!
A massive explosion occurred behind the boat that destroyed those giant fish who were chasing the boat.
And, it also pushed the boat toward the other shore at a greater speed.
After that attack, there were no more fish chasing them. The boat reached the other side in a few more minutes.
As they reached the shore, the captain came out of the cabin and once again thanked Shin.
"Thank you so much, sir! Without your help, all of us would've died in a previous attack."
"As I said, we also need to cross this river. So, there is no need to thank us!"
Shin still pretended to be less excited as he shook his head.
"At least, please tell us your name, sir!"
The Captain didn't back down immediately.
In ten years of his career, this was the first time he has ever faced those creatures out of nowhere.
He has seen countless casualties due to those creatures but thanks to his seriousness in his work, he never truly suffered against those creatures.
But this time, he made a mistake. He crossed the river a bit early because of the large amount of money that the previous passengers gave him.
So, they moved earlier which caused them to be in the middle of the river just when creatures would come up.
His one mistake almost cost dozens of lives. At this moment he realized that he would never make this kind of mistake again.
And, he was really grateful that someone as strong as Shin was in his boat.
"My name is Shin."
Shin paused for a moment before finally revealing his name.
"Mister Shin, if it is okay with you, can I put your photo on my ship?" The Captain raised his head and looked at Shin with a serious expression as he spoke.
"Shouldn't this kind of situation be normal for you guys? Why are you so excited?"
Barry couldn't help but feel confused. Knowing that there were thousands of creatures in the river, it should be normal to face this kind of situation.
So, he didn't understand why the captain was so excited about Shin.
"You don't understand, Barry. If I am not wrong, you are Captain Tim. You are the only boat captain who hasn't faced a single attack from those creatures in an entire decade."
"Nearly eighty percent of the others have died because of the attacks from those creatures. Those twenty percent who survived were due to powerful people who were crossing the river at that time just like now."
At this moment, John decided to reveal the captain's history as he looked at Tim.
"Yes, I always take my work seriously. If I make a single mistake, I would lose not only my life but also those people who entrusted their lives to me."

Tim once again bowed his head to show his respect.
Hearing his words, everyone was surprised even John couldn't hide his surprise.
Shin quickly thought of something and frowned.
"Wait, you are someone who hadn't accepted a bribe before. In your decade of work, there should be a lot of people who have tried giving you a lot of money."
"But you never accepted them. So, just how much more did this person give you?"
Hearing his words, Tim paused for a moment. He didn't want to reveal the total money he got but knowing that these were the people who saved him, he decided to tell them.
"They gave me enough to cure my daughter's illness without needing to spend any more."
This made them surprised especially Shin.
'What exactly could be the reason for them to spend so much money just to cross this river?'
Shin couldn't help but frown. For some reason, he was getting bad vibes from this.
"I think you guys are overthinking about this. Although it is not normal for people to spend so much money, it is not abnormal among rich people and powerful people."
"For them, the most important thing is time. They would rather push thousands of jobs and millions of Zels at others for simple jobs rather than waste their time doing so."
"Some even spent thousands of Zels just for relaxing massage every single day. You must know that they have an exact routine to cross this river. So, they must have paid a lot more just to break the routine."
While they were frowning and thinking more, John decided to interrupt their thoughts.
His words made a lot of sense, especially to Shin who had learned about the lifestyle of rich people in his previous life.
Even Barry knew a thing or two about that. Only Hina was clueless about it. But, unlike Shin, she wasn't thinking too much about it.
Shin and the others nodded their heads and finally decided to leave the boat as it stopped at the shore.
Before that, Tim insisted on taking photos of them to which Shin agreed.
And, the reason was simple.

Shin looked at Barry and Hina.
When both of them didn't know what to do either, John decided to speak.
"You might not know this properly but the Desert City isn't that far. We can properly find a proper Inn in that place and stay there."
"After all, it gets incredibly cold during the night in deserts."
After hearing his words, Shin turned to Hina and Barry, asking.
"I agree with him. So, what do you think?"
"Well, since you agree. Then, we have no reason to disagree, right?" Barry shrugged his shoulders and answered.
"Wherever you go, we will follow you." Hina smiled and answered as well.
"Alright then, let's leave! I hope you can show us the way."
Shin nodded his head and turned his head toward John.
"No problem!"
John smiled and quickly walked ahead of them.
But, after showing them the road, he started walking side by side instead of walking ahead of them.
"By the way, did you all come from the same village?" John asked.
"Hina and I came from the same village but Barry was from another village."
Shin shook his head and answered.
"By the way, I have thinking about this for a while. I wasn't sure if I should ask this. But, why do you want to enter the Sacred Ground? You should know it's really dangerous." John asked.
"Because I want to find the Ultimate Treasure."
