Chapitre 7: Might of Modern Weaponry
Four hours passed just like that. Aside from showing the movie Ti*****, Adam also showed a movie based on a war in Earth. He explained to Liliana and her families that this is a war before people on is homeland have supernatural powers. Where countries relies on technologies to win the war. The movie that Adam showed are called Black Hawk ****.
Nicholas asked Adam a lot of question about the technologies showed on the movies. From the guns, vehicle, and other gadgets such as the radio. Adam answered all of Nicholas question patiently. Liliana and her mother listened from the side, while Liliana's siblings focused on the movie.
When Nicholas heard that the technologies on Adam homeland are much more advanced than the one that the Natesta Kingdom have. It made Nicholas shudder in fear. How could he not feel fear from it? A gun that could shot from miles away, a vehicle that can flies in the air and submerge in the water, no need to mention the weapon called the nuclear bomb. Nicholas imagined what happen if one of those nuclear bomb dropped on Nara Empire.
While explaining about nuclear bomb, Adam showed a brief video about nuclear bomb experiment called the Manhattan Project. When Adam said that it's only the very first version of nuclear. Nicholas are surprised that the one showed in the video are only the first version of nuclear. He asked Adam if the power in Adam era is the same as before. Adam responded with a laugh before he said no, the power of nuclear bomb in his era are much more powerful. As the technologies advances, the weapon that the human race used also advanced, they still use gunpowder, but the military are slowly changing it to energy-based weapon. Even the war front has changed to outer space.
Thinking about an enemy invasion from the skies. Nicholas can't imagine what kind of world Adam is living. Luckily, it's only Adam that come to this world, not an entire army.
Adam sighed as a huff of smoke come out of his mouth. They finished watching movie after it's getting too late. Nicholas continued to work in his office. While Liliana's mother and siblings goes to their own room to get some sleep. Same goes to Krisna who fell asleep right after he got to his room.
But Adam didn't go to sleep right away. Instead, he's now standing on top of the balcony while smoking a cigarette. Just as he was going to take another smoke, he heard someone's footstep coming from behind him. Turning around, he saw Liliana walking while wearing her night gown.
"You haven't sleep yet?" Asked Adam, after he threw his cigaratte away.
"How can I while i saw you still standing here?"
Liliana walked closer and hugged Adam. He responded with another hug. The two embraced each other for a while before letting each other go. Liliana then pulled Adam inside and make him sit in the sofa. While Liliana sat on Adam's lap.
"You know, after thinking about it, our relationship is kinda absurd." Said Adam suddenly, surprising Liliana.
"Why did you said that?"
"Because, we just meet not too long ago, right? I just feel weird about how we just suddenly are in a relationship. I mean, people usually get to know each other, before they become lovers or something like that. While we barely knew each other when we meet before, you just suddenly came to me and clinged to my arms like you're my lovers."
Liliana stared at Adam. She also realised this problem. When she explained to her parents about Adam, she lied about how they're already in a relationship for a couple of months. But the truth is--it's only been three days since the start of their relationship.
"I know," said Liliana. She held Adam's face with both of her hands before kissing him in the cheeks.
"It's just... you made me feel something that i never felt before. Genuine love, perhaps? Unlike the nobles i met before i meet you. They just stared at me with lust filled their entire eyes. All those nobles proposed to me before, but me and my families knew that they don't truly love me, they only want my body and the power that i have."
Adam can understand how Liliana felt. Being beautiful and powerful is not always a good thing. People--especially men--will always covet women that are beautiful or powerful. Unlike Liliana that have the backing of her powerful families and of course with her power to protect herself, not a lot of men dared to take Liliana as their own wives. But to women that are not strong like Liliana and has the backing of a powerful families, they can only surrender to their own fate.
"Unlike them, Adam. I didn't see any lust in your eyes. Even though we just met, I can feel the sincerity of your love in your eyes. I don't know why, but i also feel that you're familiar, it's hard to explain. But what I do know is that I love you, even if you don't love me."
Adam still stared at Liliana. Liliana, being stared at Adam continously, started to blush and pinched Adam in his waist. Adam blowed to Liliana's ears as his payback, resulting in Liliana that moaned in pleasure because of Adam that blowed in Liliana's ears.
"Don't do that!" Shouted Liliana while pinching Adam's waist again.
"Alright! alright! I'm sorry!"
"So, how do you respond to my feelings, Adam Hartfelt?"
Adam sat in silence. He also wondered about his own feeling to Liliana. Most of the feeling that he had to Liliana is because how similar she looks to his former lover. It sometimes confuses him because he always saw Liliana as his past lover. Even her personalities resembles Adam's past lover too.
"I also love you, but we need time to know each other. You know that we just knew each other two days ago. And also, we can't tell other people about our relationship, at least yet, are you fine with that?"
"Yes, I'm fine with that."
Adam and Liliana stared at each other. Slowly, their face are getting closer until they can feel their own breath. Liliana closed her eyes and tilted her head, giving Adam the signal to kiss her. Adam complied, he kissed Liliana lips before stopping after sensing two people are walking to the room they were in.
Liliana wanted to ask why Adam stopped, but she started to sense two people approaching their room. So she tidied her clothes and sat properly beside Adam. A few moments later, two people shows ups, it's Nicholas and Angelica--Liliana's parents.
"You both haven't sleep yet?"
Angelica and Nicholas approached Adam and Liliana before sitting across them. Somehow, this make Adam nervous. Is it because he never met his past lover parents before?
"I can't sleep." Answered Adam.
"Me too."
Angelica smiled at Adam and Liliana answer. They probably didn't sleep because they're flirting with each other right now. That's what Angelica and Nicholas thought, they don't know what's really going on.
"We planned to tell you this later, but seeing you both haven't sleep yet, so we decided to tell it now." Said Nicholas while stared at Adam.
"Tomorrow, there's going to be a party held at our castle, every noble in Nara Empire will attend in this party. We want you both--especially Adam--to attend the banquet. And Adam, protect Liliana from the nobles that will try to flirt with her. Even though she's an Empress, people will still try to do anything to get to know her. As her lover, you don't want to see her with other men, right?"
Just the thought of it already made Adam feel annoyed. As a Demi-Human, Liliana senses are much more sensitives than human, so she can feel that Adam are getting annoyed. She held Adam hands and smiled.
"This is also a chance for you to get to know the nobles of the Nara Empire better. Perhaps, you could find some friend there." Added Angelica.
"So, are you willing to go to the banquet with Liliana?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I?" Answered Adam without hesitation.
There's no way in hell that he would let Liliana go to the banquet alone. Though she still can protect herself. But as a man, how could he just stand by and do nothing? He will show people that Liliana already has a man now. And that man is not someone that they can easily provoke.
"But, mother, Adam and I already talked about hiding our relationship before. Mother knew that Adam is not a Demi-Human like us and new to the Nara Empire. With the power that the nobles have, who knew what will they try to do to him?"
"Are you afraid somebody will hurt Adam?"
"No, it's not that, but I'm afraid that a noble families will be wiped out if Adam gets annoyed."
Angelica and Nicholas stared at Liliana. Thinking back, they still remembered the story about how Adam handled the Black Tooth bandit group easily. Liliana also told her parents that Adam probably hasn't showed his full power yet. If he do, what will happen then? What will happen if he decided to throw a nuclear bomb right at the Nara Empire? Precisely at the noble families? Though Nicholas and Angelica still doesn't know how strong Adam is. The fact that they can't sense Adam's power still frighten them.
"Adam, promise me if something happen, you must hold yourself back as long as you can."
Liliana said with all seriousness. Adam can't say no to that of course. He also considered what happen if he 'accidentally' destroy a noble families. So he will try to hold his temper back, though he's not sure if it's gonna work.
"Alright, but I'm not going to be sure that I can do it or not."
"You already made your promises, so you must keep it, or else you will regret."
Liliana turned her head away from Adam and hmped. It looks cute so Adam pinched her cheeks. Nicholas and Angelica watched from the side, they smiled before they walked out from the room. Letting Adam and Liliana doing their stuff alone.
