Sophie and Ilaria

The Nation - 6:15 PM

Ilaria had seen the blue light first. Sensing her curiosity, Sophie stopped mid step and turned. It appeared not far away, like a beacon, shooting up into the darkening sky.

She felt drawn to it.

“Sophie, is everything alright?” she heard Seth ask.

“Do you see that?” she asked.

“See what?”

“That light, right over there. What is that?” she asked. Sophie released Seth’s hand and began walking toward the light.

“I don’t see anything,” he said from behind her. But as she walked towards the mystical blue light, she heard Seth following.

She and Ilaria walked together slowly. Every step closer to the light, the more their lines blurred.

Eventually, they approached a dense underbrush. Sophie pushed some of the thick leaves and branches aside so she could see in.
