The sudden thud jolted Ana awake, intensifying the dull ache hammering her skull with each echoing reverberation. She tried to open her eyes, finding solace in the large hand that rubbed her back. Blinking away the blurriness, she focused on the tense jaw hovering above her. But another thud rang out, sending a fresh wave of pain through her temples, and she groaned.

Rubbing her eyes, she tried to focus on Khai's concerned face. His large hand brushed her forehead as he kept his gaze fixed ahead. Ana followed his line of sight and staggered back as a werewolf pounced towards them. The monster's jaws opened wide, ready to strike, but something yanked it back, causing it to fall. Ana tried to calm her breathing, wondering if she was dreaming everything.

"It's okay! Ana, it's okay." He reassured her. But the strange tension in his voice did not escape her.
