Leylin's POV
The domain of law.
It's a crucial and dangerous step for give up the mortality and become the equivalent of a god.
Currently, I was stuck in my "mindscape" assimilating the energy emitted by Bill's soul, otherwise called spiritual energy, and refining it into its evolved form "soul energy or soul force".
I was stuck in this place because of the evolution process that comes with progressing to rank 7. If I failed to understand and appropriate a law held by Bill Cipher, then I would be stuck here for eternity.
This is the price to pay for escaping mortality and rising as a being of law, it has never discouraged rank 6 magi or people as crazy as me.
"The problem is that I might take longer than a 'Beast spirit master' during their evolution."
I couldn't help but sigh at this reality. I'm currently using the path of a "Beast spirit master" to evolve and become a being of law.
There have never been cases of a "Beast spirit master" above rank 6, and those of rank 6 are just legends in the purgatory worlds.
The "Beast spirit master" path has the particularity of passively increasing its strength after sealing the spiritual beast, which means that my strength increases passively without doing anything.
I would surely have become stronger quickly if I hadn't used Leylin Farlier's knowledge to forge myself a proper "soul".
The reason for this act is that true Beast spirit masters have souls with weak foundations according to Leylin Farlier, I don't want to have an unstable foundation.
Normally, I should have exploded due to the crazy strength difference between Bill's soul and mine, but SCP 738 modified the magic seal so that it could help me assimilate the power emitted by Bill's soul without dying stupidly.
So my path to rank 7 and 8 is guaranteed, but I don't know how long it will take because of my current actions.
"We knew we were greedy when executing this plan."
I couldn't refute the words of my inner version, he's currently the only person I can talk to besides trying to speed up the process.
So yes, I'm talking to myself to pass the time.
"Yes, but the power of my soul hasn't stopped increasing for a while, you can also feel that I'm a rank 5, haha!"
I couldn't help but laugh a little, although the power of my soul was increasing non-stop.
I'm trying to structure it similarly to that of a magus based on Leylin Farlier's memories. Currently, my soul had the shape of a moon, but it was empty.
It must now be filled with soul energy. After that, I can start appropriating a law from Bill Cipher and I'll officially become a rank 7 being.
I could accomplish this in a few centuries if I'm lucky.
"You forget that it can take longer. We both know why you're avoiding accepting this truth."
I could see Inner Leylin sigh, he's not wrong. I'm avoiding admitting that I gave Willow a near-suicide mission.
The fastest magus to reach rank 4 was over 50 years old, and I think I'm doing it faster than him since I'm content with absorbing the spiritual energy emitted by Bill's soul and refining "soul force".
Normally, it should have taken me about twenty years to reach rank 5, or thirty.
The problem will be when understanding the law and appropriating it. I doubt that Willow's 300-year life expectancy will be enough.
I can only hope that she can break through and become a rank 2 magus despite the lack of resources necessary for her success in this path.
"I can only hope that I can quickly complete my soul and that I can understand a law held by Bill Cipher."
I knew I was literally lying to myself, but if I reach rank 7 and wake up, then Willow's sacrifice to keep my body won't be in vain.
I can just try to find her soul, if she hasn't reincarnated.
...
"Hahaha, I did it!"
I couldn't help but laugh as I observed the runes and strange "drawings" appearing on my soul. They were similar, but slightly different from those on my arm.
I could feel that the "drawings" were complete.
"Congratulations, you were able to reach the power you coveted and you didn't go crazy staying here for so long."
I could feel that Inner Leylin was sincere in his words. Anyone would surely have cracked in this place.
Fortunately for me, I could ask Inner Leylin to make me "forget" certain movies to watch them again with him.
This helped me enormously not to go crazy and now, I'm officially a rank 7 being!!
"So, are you ready to leave my place or do you plan to stay to seize another law from Bill?" he said with a small smile.
"I plan to leave, I have lots of things to do."
I couldn't hide the excitement on my face, but it was short-lived.
*BAM* Sound of destruction of the metal coffin.
I held back my radiations with my Oracle magic and observed my surroundings. I was in some sort of library.
"Willow?"
...
Willow's POV
After finding the "Time pools", I started checking if it was safe.
"This one leads to an era too far away," I said, looking at a landscape similar to the description given by a history book on the "Hecataeus Period".
So this "Time pool" is not safe enough. I went to check the next one, that's how I spent about ten minutes before falling on an acceptable time pool.
I signaled Leylin's abominations to follow me.
"I must be around 'The Savage Ages' judging by the structure of the buildings."
I signaled the abominations to be discreet and I started exploring the surroundings of the village that I had been able to observe from afar upon my arrival.
"Excuse me sir, do you have today's date?"
I asked a man who seemed friendly for the date and I was right, I had indeed landed in "The Savage Ages".
I should be about 400 years from my time given today's date, this should give Leylin enough time to wake up.
If Leylin wakes up, I'm sure he can bring us back to our time by creating titan blood.
I created a base not far from the village but sheltered from the curious with various glyphs and runes.
The abominations were able to help me with minor tasks like finding me food or cleaning.
"I'll wait for you..."
I knew that when Leylin asked me to send him to the past, his sleep would be extremely long. This request was probably for me to create a safe place for him and then return.
The problem is that Leylin is currently at his most vulnerable, I can't abandon him.
He often told me that if I became a rank 1 magus, I could live extremely long. I think a century won't be a problem and I can collect all the magic from this era which is considered lost in our time.
1 year passed
10 years passed
100 years passed
200 years passed
304 years passed
Leylin hasn't come out of his prison. I've spent my whole life trying to become a rank 2 magus, but I'm missing certain elements whose location I don't know.
I couldn't find an equivalent of these in the demon world. I think Leylin had created this "astral gate" to solve this problem.
"It's funny that my body is abandoning me now, Leylin is supposed to be born in 50 or 60 years. If only I could resist aging, I could warn him about Bill."
I couldn't help but regret my lack of titan blood or my inability to create an "astral gate" and try my luck despite the lack of coordinates to travel to a specific world.
"Leylin... I'm... sorry."
I couldn't help but shed a little tear looking at the metal coffin in the center of the library. There was a time when I considered him a walking library.
It's funny that I'm dying slowly in a library like this.
"Willow?" resonated a voice I thought I'd never hear again.
It's surely a hallucination, I've really become pitiful. I'm a magus specialized in illusions but I'm starting to hallucinate.
Author's Note: I'm going to start publishing one chapter a day again and 4 or 5 per week.
