"What? Roxanne is on her way here?" asked Madam Eloise, pacing about her massive bedroom with a hand on her head.

On the side of the wall, the one beside the bedroom exit, Rochester leaned his back. Head bending backward, he shoveled his hands inside the pockets of his pants and stayed that way, exhaling loud. He had not expected his mother would react this way. It wasn't that he was hoping she would receive the news with smiling cheeks and a happy face— but he kind of thought she would be glad about it given how she had always blamed him for not doing too much to find his sister. Well, good news, thought Rochester. After hiding away for five solid years, she was finally going to show up there on her own accord.
