Chapitre 15: Nali's Assumptions
Upon entering the area where the masters' and teachers' bathroom was, Nali thought she saw someone rushing in, but due to her urgency, she couldn't investigate as she should. She was in the last bathroom in the row and could only hear broken phrases and whispers.
— Let me out, I don't like being locked in the bathroom with anyone. Not even my dad or mom does that.
The teacher threatened to stand up, but the situation threatened to get out of hand.
— What's going on?
— Be quiet, do you want us to be discovered? I'll show you something you've never seen in your life.
Teacher Nali seemed to hear someone's insistence ready to attack and someone's refusal to give in at all costs.
— I don't want anything, I just want to get out of here.
Her pain wouldn't go away, but she couldn't make any noise. She was very worried and curious about what was happening in the bathroom next to hers.
— This is really special to me, but I can let you use it if you want.
Nali heard this with wide eyes and was ready to stand up, but a sharp pain in her lower abdomen intensified, and she knew that wasn't good. Soon, she wouldn't be able to get out of there, at least not at that moment.
— Wow, that's cool! Let me take it.
— No, let me show you how to do it first, then you can try, but I doubt you'll succeed.
— Then hurry up!
— Here, it's for you.
— Whatever you want me to do with this, I say it's unfair. Look at the size of mine; I don't think it rises like yours.
— Let me explain how to do it. First, put it in one hand and think of it as a star that has to shine. Then, place it exactly in the center of both hands, as I did, and think that it has to float, it has to rise feeling it vibrate. When that happens, open one hand and let it slowly rise.
— And then, what do I do?
— Let's start together, and when it starts to float, close your eyes for a moment. When I say "now," you open your eyes, squeeze tightly, and look right into my eyes. Then, you'll see the transformation happen right before you.
Teacher Nali couldn't take the curiosity any longer, and the pain in her abdomen was growing stronger by the intensity of the things she was hearing. She knew she had to intervene, so she left her bathroom, passed by four others, and entered the adjacent empty bathroom.
She began to climb the wall hurriedly and with great effort, as her belly hurt more and more, and she knew she didn't have much time.
Everything was happening exactly as Dimmy had explained. With eyes closed, little Joe prepared for the order he would soon hear. When he heard his friend's voice saying "now," he opened his eyes and saw the two gems shining and spinning intensely above their heads.
He first met Dimmy's brightly lit eyes and instinctively looked up, seeing the shadow of someone behind him reflected on the wall in front. He combined his surprise and fear of being found by the teachers and screamed:
— Yow!
At that very moment, without the necessary concentration for the gem to float, it quickly descended and, finding little Joe's mouth agape in astonishment, went down his throat.
At the same time, his friend Dimmy opened his eyes, startled by little Joe's scream. Instinctively, Dimmy looked up and saw that it was Teacher Nali above the wall. He shouted:
— Nali!
He still tried to close his eyes, but it was too late. The contact had been made, and the transformation would start in moments. That stone had a quick effect, and soon Dimmy felt long hair falling to his shoulders while he tried to reverse the transformation.
Everything happened very quickly, and before anyone else could do anything, little Joe's reaction was to use part of his astonishing power to knock down the wall the teacher was climbing, but not before she shouted:
— Sister Miau Lee! What are you doing here?
And Teacher Nali fell, all covered in shit, on top of the frightened Joe, who now had Dimmy's features.
.Dazed by everything that had just happened, Nali only remembered that she had to stop whatever was happening and still get back to the toilet in time to do her business. She was recalling her final moments, with the last effort she made when she climbed, squeezing and slipping on that thin wall. When she looked, she didn't understand, first shocked to see a boy who, out of nowhere, turned into her sister.
She became even more confused after hearing the name Miau Lee being pronounced. She remembered that her short and quick plan was, with her last forces, to climb the wall as fast as possible and check what was happening, but she didn't expect someone below her to be startled and, with their ability, knock down her, the wall, the bathroom, and everything nearby. The impact was strong, and she, like the fragile wall, couldn't withstand the pressure.
With the wall destroyed and lying on the ground with no strength to get up, Nali had nowhere else to go and nothing else to do. Already covered in shit, she looked at the baron's son's face below her and asked:
— What were you doing here with my sister?
Dimmy was scared by what had just happened, and no idea came to his mind to get out of that mess that involved not only him but also his friend little Joe and his teacher Nali.
Luckily, he had a very smart sister, and she wasn't far away. With another five minutes of running, he managed to reach the carriage where Ylsean was sitting, talking to the knight Captain of the Silver Claw order.
Flushed and all flustered, he reached his sister and, in a tight hug, confessed, almost crying:
— Ylsean, please help me. I got into a big mess.
Without turning to him, Ylsean asked:
— And this time, what do I get for saving your skin?
When he was about to answer, she turned her face abruptly and didn't recognize who was beside her, giving a startle backward, being caught by Clavius, the knight.
