"BALDUR! BROTHER!" Thor's voice interrupts me from my meditation.
It's been a week since the last chap- I mean, since Lorelai left. And I've been meditating a lot during these days.
Usually I just open my window, turn on my Light Mode, and sit in my room, crossing my legs, and my hands on my knees in the Gyan Mudra. I had given up on the Mirror Dimension for now, as I realized that I don't know if I'll be able to return to the real world. Punching through the crack between realms might make things.. infinitely worse.
So, sitting the that pose, I would absorb the Light Energy, from the Dimension, and infuse it in my body. It was slow going, but I was going there.
I don't think it'll have any benefits, but still, I'd rather find out myself instead of assuming.
Anyways, back to Thor. He just came running into my room, without knocking, holding silver bracers in his hands, that could cover his whole forearms.
I look at them, turn to Thor, who's standing bashfully, and ask, "What can I help you with, Thor?"
Thor winces at my voice. I can't help it, alright! I'm a bit upset at myself and that ruins my mood anytime I think of it.
Thor shoves the bracers at me and says, "You're a rune Master, right? And you've learned metal enchanting? Can you check these for me?"
I shake my head at him and take the bracers. They are nicely made, standard Asgardian work. They're made of Silver, as I said before, and look good enough. Next thing is that there are runes on the inside of it, making it durable, and increase it's weight by about 1000 times. Okay, now I know why he brought them to me.
Mother and Father already know I wear weighted bracelets, so when Thor started making these, mother probably convinced him to get me to help. Damn it. There goes my plans for the night. No wallowing in self pity today.
I turn to Thor and say, "The rune schemes are good. You want to increase their weight, right? I don't know what I personally can help you with."
Thor frowns and says, "Yes. That is why I brought them to you, brother. I wore these for a few days, and I got used to the weight. I want to add a way I can increase the weight when I need them to."
Huh. That's exactly like mine, but Mother won't send him to me so I can simply make them for him. I'll have to guide him to the answer. It is the Asgardian way. You don't show the answers, you help the student find it themselves. Unless it is a Royal Secret. Then you pray they never find out.
"Everyone has a different style, a different perspective, when it comes to Runes, Thor, you know that. The scheme you carved, is good, and effective. And it's your method. If I try and teach you how to do mine, you wouldn't understand it much, the same way I don't understand the meaning behind every step of your scheme."
I pause and wait for him to nod. I then say, "That said, I won't reject you. You're free to peruse my personal notes on the subject of weights, as I too wear these..." I show him my bracelets, and say, "...to train. Don't worry, we'll get there."
Thor smiles, hugs me, and booms out, "VERILY! Brother! We should help Loki with this too. Or he will fall back! I'll go and get him!"
And he leaves before I even say anything. I sigh and speak out loud, "You did that on purpose, didn't you mother?"
"I have no idea what you mean, my son. I simply helped my Sons find a way out of a tight spot." Frigga says from her seat near the bed, becoming visible.
So she did this for me too. I needed it? Probably. I mean, I've never been a proper adult who knew stuff.
"You know that there's no guarantee that their weight runes will be as good as mine are? Not that I doubt their tenacity, and not bragging, but I did spend 5 years working on them. Perfecting them." I say, looking at her.
Mother simply smiles and says, "They don't need to be as heavy as your bands are, but they'll help my sons survive, and that's more important."
I nod. I didn't make bracers for them because this kind of stuff, only you should know how to work. Sure, Eitri could make me something similar. But only I knew how to work these, so only I can turn them into traps for myself. Plus, these ones only work for me.
But now that Thor has come asking for help? I'm not going to reject my brother. That's a d*ck move.
~~~A/N: I'm too lazy to actually search if there are ways you're "supposed" to work with runes, so all this is pulled out of my a*s.~~~
"No, that won't work, Thor." I patiently say, looking at the scheme he was working with. I point at a smaller array, and say, "See this array? This will make it so that the more the bracers weigh, the more you weigh for the outside world. We want to make it so that no matter how much the bracers weigh, if the soul forge scans your weight, it'll stay the same. So instead of trying to simply make it heavier, make it so it exerts pressure, but only on your body."
It's been a month since we started working on runes together, and I have to say it's been fun. Thor, true to his word, started immediately reading my notes on the Weight rune schemes, trying to understand how I came to each conclusion.
The study of runes is such that even if he copies the scheme exactly the way I wrote it, it won't work. A Rune Master might, MIGHT, be able to copy my work, but even he won't get perfect results.
So, Thor was trying to find a way to get the same effects I did, by using his own ideas. By now, he had managed to increase the weight to 10 tons, which for him, was a bit hard. Oh, he can lift about 50 tons when needed, but carrying 10 tons constantly gets tiring.
Now, he was trying to make the weight adjustable, but hasn't had much success yet, while also trying to nullify the effect the weights have on the world.
My weights were such that even if I carry around 75 tons, my body still weighs only about 280 Kg. And the high weight is mostly because of the high density of Asgardian skin, flesh, and bones.
Loki in the meanwhile, was working on traps. Runes to petrify someone until the counter is applied was already discovered by him.
He was currently working on something like a tether, so that a prisoner doesn't walk away from the prison. This will be given to the Soldiers that man the prisons.
Of course, one man will have to be taught how to apply the rune schemes to the prisoners, along with the counter, but Loki was doing this to impress Father, so he didn't mind giving away one secret amongst many.
I though, was working on something other than runes. Flying. FLYING!
You see, a few days ago, when I was meditating as usual, under the sun, I accidentally got angry while remembering the End Game movie, and compressed the Dimensional Energy that was in my body. What this did, was turn me less glowey.
It basically turned me from Kurama Chakra Mode Naruto, to Super Saiyan 2, Goku.
But wait? Shouldn't it have turned even more bright after compressing? Well, ai thought so too. I can only tell you that.. I got nothing. Literally. I don't even know how it happened, how I compressed the energy, how it turned my hair golden, well, more than it already was anyway.
It just did.
But that's not all. Once that "transformation" happened, I managed to float up to three feet into the air.
I was so happy, I did a dance in the air! I WAS FLYING! I FLEW OFF MY OWN POWERS WITHOUT ANY EXTERNAL SUIT, OR SHOES! F*CK YOU THANOS! FUCK YOU ODIN! Can you do this? No? F*ck off!
And then I promptly lost concentration, turned back into my Light Mode, and fell on my face, breaking the nose.
I was thankful for my superior healing factor then, as it healed me in about 6 seconds. After that brief flight, I had managed to float again, for a few minutes this time. But that was when I only channeled the compressed Light Dimension Energy to my body. I haven't actually tried to fly properly. Yet.
Which is what I was doing now, after Loki and Thor had left to their rooms. I was in one of the training grounds of the Royal Family, warming up a bit. I had already put up a hard light illusion on the whole training ground, to keep me invisible, while my illusion self was meditating. It was just an illusion, not a clone, him meditating won't help me anyway.
I look towards the Bifrost's direction, and shout, "Heimdall! Keep an eye on me, and call mother if something happens!"
Silence greets me, but I know he heard it. He's the all-seeing Heimdall!
Being ready, I transform directly into my Mystic Mode, which is what I'm calling the compressed Light Mode. Taking a few jumps in my own place, I bend down, and jump high up into the air, while keeping the intent, "Fly freely, like I'm born to fly." in my mind.
"WOHOOO!!!" I shout out, once I'm about a hundred feet into the air. I lean to my right, instinctively turning my body right like a plane, then I turn left. I keep taking turns in random, getting used to the feeling of flying.
I tell you, this is freaking amazing! I can fly! Oh, my, God! I can fly! Suck it, Thor! I don't need ny Ljosgeirr to fly! I can do it by myself!
I stayed within the borders of the training grounds, to make sure no one other than Heimdall sees me fly, and it's only because I want him to see me so he can inform someone if I fall, or overload myself. Granted, I'll heal right away, but it's better to be safe.
And yes, my HLI( Hard light Illusions) can fool his sight.
Back to flight, I take a short break after half an hour of flying, and start again. This time, going higher and higher, not stopping. I had a guess, and I was going to find out if it's true or not.
My speed increases from about 200 MPH, and doubles within a second of going up. I grin to myself, and focus on accelerating again, and again and again.
A boom echoes behind me, as I break he sound barrier, and I keep going.
5 seconds. Mach 2. I keep grinning to myself as I keep climbing high. I don't even feel the gravity trying to drag me down, or the wind resistance.
15 seconds. Mach 5. I reach the stratosphere, or the Asgardian equivalent of it, and immediately feel my absorption rate increase. The sun is clearer here, than it is down on the Ground.
26 seconds. Mach 10. I keep going up, not feeling even a little bit tired.
2 minutes. Mach 14. I finally break out of Asgard's gravitational pull, and stop. 2 minutes. 2 Minutes is all it took for me to get from the surface of Asgard, to outer space. And my guess was right.
I DON'T NEED TO BREATHE WHEN I'M IN SPACE! I WAS RIGHT! THIS IS SO DAMN USEFUL!
Calming myself, after dancing a bit in open space, I look around in wonder. In front of me is the bright orange Sun, which I can now see is actually yellow.
Behind me is Asgard, the flat planet. I use the Dimensional Energy still flowing through my body, and send some to my eyes, zooming in on the realm.
Looking at Asgard now, and comparing to what I remembered of Midgard and it's many pictures, I note to myself, that Asgard, as a Realm, is as big as the whole Australian Continent.
It begins with a rocky region, with an upside down mountain below the whole Asgard Realm. next comes proper land mass, most of which is filled with forests, trees, and mountains.
Then, the only residential area on Asgardian Realm, the City of Gold, Asgard. It might be called a city, but it is as large as a small country. Maybe England. Or Sri Lanka. About that big.
At the centre of the City of Asgard, is the Golden Palace, which is where I stay. There are also the barracks, Healer's quarters and the quarters for the rest of the palace workers.
The ships, both for space travel, and for cavalry, are kept underground, so there's no wastage of space there. While the citizens live in the area surrounding the Palace.
The City, is surrounded by an ocean, which falls down, and keeps falling down, into the cosmos. Or that's what I'd previously believed. The water actually goes down and gets pulled near the centre, which then again sends it up, and it keeps going.
I look towards the Bifrost bridge, which is pretty damn long, and wave at Heimdall in the Observatory. He nods at me, and smiles. Huh. I wonder how that bridge was built. I wonder how the city was built. Fuck it, I even wonder how the whole Realm was made. It doesn't fucking make sense! A flat world!
I shake off my musings about Asgard, and turn around and face the infinite cosmos. Beautiful. That's the only proper word to describe it.
Everywhere I see, there are stars, and I can even see small, macroscopic planets revolving around some of them. "Beautiful! Simply Amazing." I whisper to myself.
Finally turning to what I actually came to space for, I turn to the star I had connected with, right before knocking myself out. I was still connected with it, but there was no transfer of energy from either side.
I focus on it, and my connection to it, and send it my Solar Energy. It rekindles the connection, and I once more feel the same omniscient feeling. Squashing it down, I simply focus on sending a very small trail of the Sun's Energy to my body.
When I feel a pretty large stream of Energy, I slowly decrease the flow, until it is equal to the flow of the Light Dimension Energy.
Once it is done, I nod to myself, and summon Ljosgeirr to my right hand. Time to control fire baby.
Focusing my spear in limiting the fire output, I emit a fire beam from the tip of Ljosgeirr, and into my left hand. I use the left hand and absorb the energy emitted by Ljosgeirr. I keep firing at my left hand, with Ljosgeirr, using the Solar energy as fuel.
After a few minutes of this, I feel confident, and banish Ljosgeirr to my PD again. Clenching my hands a few times, I bring out a piece of fur from the PD, and burn it. Just like that.
I simply focused my will on the fur, pointed my hand at it, and commanded my magic to BURN IT! And it did!
My hand emitted a bright orange flame, that burned the whole fur to ashes within a minute!
Damn! I'm OP!
"Flame on!" I shout out, and fire continuous stream of fire, while the connection to the Star, fills the Solar energy up, as soon as it empties.
"HAHA! HAHA! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!" I cackle to myself, as I finally flame off, and go back towards Asgard.
"This is fucking euphoric!" I say to Heimdall, as soon as I land behind him on the Bifrost, making it groan a little. Yes, I did the Superhero Landing. Bow to me, mortals!
Or not. I can simply burn your bodies if you piss me off.... nah. It'll bring too much troubles for me if I do that. Nevermind.
"I should hope so, My Prince. You finally balanced out your Light and Sun Divinities, and activated both at the same time. Unfortunately I must inform you that your Mother has called you to her chambers when you are done 'flying around space.' " Heimdall says, without even turning back.
I groan out loud, making Heimdall chuckle, and start flying towards the Palace. I'm not losing a single opportunity to fly.
Let's face the music, now, shall we?
~~~
A/N: Yup. He can fly like Captain Marvel. And he can now also emit fire from his hands. Only hands, for now.
For those who didn't get it, Baldur is now perfectly capable of connecting to ONE STAR ONLY, and having it transfer a bit of its energy to him. Using that he used Ljosgeirr to fire at his arm, which absorbed the energy again, making it completely his own(which was simply me making it harder for him to control fire).
He then learned how the spear used the fire, and imitated it through his hands.
Now, he's always connected to the star, at least when he is within the realms, and use fire anytime he wants. Even if he's disconnected from the Star.
That's it!
Thor and Loki won't carry as much weight around as Baldur. They'll stop at about 50 tons, thinking it their limit.
In about 3 chapters, Baldur will be leaving Asgard. He won't be returning anytime soon.
It'll be a big, very big, holiday for him.
